Digging to *Spoiler Removed* the hard way

Spoiler: Huge image (click to show/hide)

Should I keep at it? Is it worth it? All my dwarves look dead because my modded caste that works forever w/out food, water, sleep, or fear don't seem to like ironhand.

That didn't last long, huh? Shame, cause binary's cool. Anyway, an important message: I will be changing my names on every username based thing I use to ASCIt on/around 10/1. Consolidating, I guess you could say.

make sure you know how SMR works.  not even uber-zombie-workers can mess with it from above if it doesn't want to be messed with.

You are going to dig that out? That is insane. Good luck with your FPS...

Turns out there were only ~23 levels until I hit the bottom of the map, so I decided that it wasn't even worth it and abandoned.

Look at the map to the right.

He's building a giant hole down into the earth until he reaches the happy fun spot.

What's going on, is that he's channeling out the whole surface on his way to HFS.  It's not a mineshaft, it's an artificial canyon.

It's a strip mine.

I've seen real life ones.

Yep.
It took two years to get that far. With dwarves at speed:0 who never stop to eat/drink/sleep. Or run from animals.

'Course, I only used two miners because I wasn't thinking, but still.
