We're a little more dwarven than we think, us humans.

Please stop associating dwarves and beer. Dwarves as a concept would not exist without humanity, and they are always written as a limited window into stereotypes. It's perhaps the most one-dimensional characterization you can use, it downplays the fact that so many different civilizations could have their own alcoholic tendencies. It is a cancer on the imagination of Fantasy.

Yes, dwarves like beer. We get it. But the video you linked clearly says that humans like beer. Can that not stand as a concept on its own without constantly being referred to as a dwarven thing?

It's a well known fact that medieval society (and older equivalents) needed booze to drink, in order to be able to not die because of all the nasty shit that we were contaminating the water with.

Being able to drink nice clear water is more common today than back then.

To quote Idiocracy:

Quote
Joe: "Uh, excuse me. I think this might be Gatorade or something. I was just looking for some regular water."
Doctor in Waiting Room (Joseph Cheatham): "Water?"
Joe: "Yeah."
Doctor in Waiting Room: "You mean like in the toilet? What for?"
Joe: "You know, just to drink."
Doctor in Waiting Room: "(laughing)"

Well, thanks for ruining this.
I honestly thought more people would have replied by now talking good things about the video, and it would have largely drowned out my rage-y post.

I think it gets a bit silly, especially at the end there. Also the stuff about the United States there in the middle, with all the product placement. The stuff where the actual qualities of beer (as opposed to its value as a commodity) are relevant, though, w00t.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
