The game has been getting slower and slower and slower, and since I moved to the new version I didn't have the designer mode password.

I was hoping Steve would give it to me, but after 3 days of waiting he hasn't replied. I finally went back to 5.52, found the problem, got rid of it, then swapped back to 5.53.

The problem was the NPR we started with had went crazy with a tiny cargo ship and their civilian shipping lines had built like 200 of them. I erased them all and now the game is moving along at a reasonable pace again (no more 5 minute waits between 5 day turns). Hopefully going back and forth versions doesn't cause any errors, but I had to fix it because the game was getting unplayable. The NPR is out some cargo capacity, but none of them were actually being used anyway.

Anyway, I'm playing it again now that it isn't horrendously slow. I'll have an update as soon as something interesting comes up.

-edit- Here we go.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 4th November, 2125

We've finished the 10 terraforming stations for Mars, so I'm ordering 50 more fuel refineries built to double our fuel production. We can always shut them down when we don't need them, but for now we need them.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 7th December, 2125

Exploration team 2 has returned from Lalande 21185 with the results of the survey.

Three jumps, and lots of minerals. Several of the worlds would make decent long term mining sites, and many of the asteroids have minerals. Overall a much richer system than most of the others we've explored.

They were a bit shocked to learn that we have no fuel for them to refuel from, but they have enough to survey another system (only used 24%) so they're heading to jump point 6 in Sol.

Exploration team 1 is still waiting at Earth. Since fuel is lacking, I think I'll have them refitted to the new engine while they wait.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 12th December, 2125

Vibius Salvius Trebius completed research on a more compact turret design, thanks to better gearing research. With the smaller turrets I've redesigned the Legion and Vincere designs to have an extra two fire controls, putting 3 turrets per fire control instead of 5. It still has room for something else with the space freed up, before we build them I may have Zebulon come up with a functional model of the shields he has been researching and install some.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 17th December, 2125

I just received a promising initial report about our 6th jump point from the 2nd exploration team led by Centurion Publius Socellius Lateranus. The jump leads to the system of Struve 2398, and it has two worlds that could potentially be colonized.

Struve 2398 II has a 0.16 pressure atmosphere with 85% nitrogen, 13.4% oxygen, and 1.65% carbon dioxide. The temperature is 5.7, and has a 55% liquid hydrosphere. Gravity is 0.56. With a little more oxygen and nitrogen the world could be perfectly habitable.

Struve 2398 III has a 1.34 pressure atmosphere with 75% nitrogen, 24% methane, and 1% ammonia. The temperaturer is 0.3. No hydrosphere, and gravity is 1.29. This one would be fine with infrastructure, but terraforming it would require significant effort to replace the dangerous Methane with Oxygen.

The first planet could also be terraformed using anti-greenhouse gas. It's a low gravity world, 0.35, and has no atmosphere or hydrosphere currently present. Temperature is 546.1. Similar to Mercury.

They've jumped back into the system and will report back when it's fully surveyed.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 28th December, 2125

A promising new officer named Shec just graduated. I'm told he's the son of our late fleet commander Sheb. He's taken a posting aboard the Legionary 2.

The MonkeyHead team completed research on magneto plasma missile drives. They've begun researching fuel efficiency technology, to improve the range of both the missiles we plan to develop and our future engines.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 3rd February, 2126

Primus AussieGuy just ended his tour aboard the Legion 1, and was assigned as fleet commander. The post went unfilled for a while as the Consuls debated the issue, but in the end Primus AussieGuy was the best choice among the candidates.

I've decided to add additional slipways to our Legionary yard, to make refitting and building more of them a faster process.

I've also decided to begin buying Sorium from Asteroid 306, since our fuel refineries are using more and more.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 9th May, 2126

The Hypatia 1 has finished refit, and we now have fuel for them - so I've sent them on to explore the jump out in Proxima Centauri. To save them the trip back through Proxima Centauri, I've told them to just survey the entire system before coming back unless they detect wrecks or other signs of life.

The fuel refineries are complete. I've decided to build another two military academies to try and attract better officers. I've also begun adding a second slipway to our freighter yard, so that when we begin constructing them we can do so twice as fast. It won't be done until July 2128 though. Expansion of the shipyard intended for gate building ships is still in progress. It's up to 38328 tons now, undergoing a continual capacity expansion. The other yard that a use hasn't been decided for yet is up to 26991. Our large military yard is at 60,000. We could design an even larger carrier making use of the larger shipyard capacity.

Thanks to some extra research focus over the last few years, Zebulon finished work on Ceramic Composite armor. This will give room for heavier armor on our military vessels. Instead of continuing to advance shield techs, I've decided just to develop a functioning model with what we have now. Once he's finished the shield tech I'll design a new carrier.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 11th June, 2126

Aulus Nepius Pantera completed his research efficiency project. Now all of our research labs are 14.29% more efficient. He's now begun a project to boost our fuel production by 20%, since we've been having shortages.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 21st July, 2126

Zebulon has just finished research on our first working shield model. It can absorb 2 points of damage and recharges in 5 minutes. Not extremely effective, but having a regenerative damage capacity on our ships will be handy. I've had our carrier vessels redesigned with these shields, making them larger to make room for them and to fully utilize our large shipyard capacity.

The Vincere is meant to carry 5 of these assault shuttles:

The Capio class are poorly armored with a small fuel tank to make them as fast as possible, so that they can have better results assaulting ships that are still moving. They aren't intended to go into combat situations until the target's weapons have been disabled, or to chase after targets over long distances.

Parts to build our first Legion class carrier are now being constructed, and construction on the first carrier should begin in December. Zebulon will continue advancing our shield technology.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 12st October, 2126

Research on fuel production has been finished by the Aulus Nepius Pantera team. Now they're working on terraforming efficiency.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 5th December, 2126

Construction of the Legion 1 has begun. It will take a little over a year, and should be done by January 2128. By then we should have enough fuel produced to fill her tank.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 10th February, 2127

The two extra military academies are complete. I've begun construction of another 10 terraforming facilities for Mars. After that I'll have them build a few more ground force training facilities, to expand our capacity to train ground troops.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 9th August, 2127

Akigagak and the exploration team 1 just reported back. Lacaille 9352, the jump off of Proxima Centauri, is devoid of anything. Just a star and jump points. Both jumps are very far from the jump in as well - 2.39b km and 3.8b km, 5.3b km from eachother. They're coming in to refuel, then will be taking the 3rd jump point in Bernard's Star.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 3rd October, 2127

The ice sheet just melted on Mars. That brought the temperature up 5.7 degrees to -24.19. It didn't affect colony cost, since the world doesn't have enough atmosphere to be below 2 yet. At current terraforming rates with the 30 installations, Mars should be fully terraformed in around 2 years.

We've also researched the equipment to train a marine battalion. As soon as our 4th mobile infantry brigade is finished training we'll begin training a brigade of marines.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 18th October, 2127

We've begun construction of the engines and construction module to build our first Artifex gate builder. The shipyard is up to 75722 tons and is nearly ready to begin construction.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 2nd November, 2127

We just got a report from exploration team 2 about the Struve 2398 system. The news is good. The system has numerous large, high access mineral deposits. Combined with the good worlds for colonization, this system is a real gem. It's only jump from Earth too, although it's the furthest jump out.

Exploration team 2 is now going to take the other Barnard's Star jump point.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 6th January, 2128

Our very first Legion carrier just completed. We didn't quite have enough crewmen to fill her ranks, and a couple of conscripts had to be arranged. The first Artifex will be done in April. Another Legion will be constructed as soon as we finish the components for it, although we'll have to assign a good trainer to get the mostly conscript crew in shape once we've built a second one.

The recently promoted Primus deSeat von Trubaldsome has volunteered for command, eager to get off of Earth and prove himself. He's been on the Oculis for some time and is a skilled commander, so I've approved his command of the Legion 1. I've assigned twenty Legionary craft to her and they will begin task force training immediately. As soon as the gate ship is constructed and a gate to Alpha Centauri is complete they can go in and retrieve our stranded Legionary. It's possible her point defense and shield capabilities could withstand the missile barrage from the defense base there too.

________________________________________

lol, I wasn't even watching our crew numbers. Building all the Legionary's and the Legion sucked dry the entire crew we had. 64 Legionaries = 4736 + 4454 Legion + 250 for the 5 Locus + 3296 for the Oculis. Plus a few hundred for all the scout craft. Maybe I should make the scout craft conscripts.

I had the training rating set to 5 though, which is why we didn't have a whole lot. Guess I might need to build more academies.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 27th March, 2128

The team led by Monkeyhead finished their research into fuel efficiency 4 and 5. That should cover the fuel efficiency part of missile tech, so the MonkeyHead team is leaving their field of expertise and beginning research into missile agility technology. Numerius, the sensor researcher, has been researching missile warheads. Once the agility techs are researched we will be able to make decent missiles, then we will just need magazine tech to store them and launcher tech to fire them.

A new Vincere class vessel is now being constructed. It should be complete in June 2129. By then we'll have a few more crew for her, but many will need to be conscripts. An experienced officer will need to be assigned to train them into proper fighting order.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 7th April, 2128

Our first Artifex class construction ship was just completed. It has been sent to the Alpha Centauri jump to begin gate construction. The Legionary force picketing the gate will enter the gate and defend it once it's finished building the gate on this side.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 12th April, 2128

The Artifex 1 has begun gate construction. Thanks to the insights of the skilled commander (30% bonus) the gate will be finished in a mere 125 days instead of the expected 180. The Legion will be heading through at that time to pick up the Legionary 20. I imagine the crew of the Legionary 20 will be happy to see the Legion, they've been stranded there for some time.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 5th July, 2128

A second slipway was just completed in the freighter yard. I've ordered construction of two new Corbita III class freighters. With our imminent expansion into other systems, we'll need government freighters to haul things around. The civilian freighters will likely ship things off Earth for a fair price, but it's still nice to have a few ships of our own for special tasks. Since I didn't divert any construction capacity to building their parts first, they'll be done in January 2130.

The civilians have certainly done an incredible job expanding the Mars colony. It has 29243 infrastructure and 146 million people. Atmospheric pressure is up to .2169.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 16th August, 2128

The gate to Alpha Centauri will be done tomorrow. I've ordered the Legion and 19 Legionaries back to Earth for refueling. They, along with another 20 legionaries (leaving 20 on Earth) and a Locus, will be heading into Alpha Centauri. Once they've rescued and repaired Legionary 20 they will have 40 FACs there. Twenty Legionaries and the Locus will remain near the gate ship to defend their exit, while the other twenty go with the Legion.

I've given them orders to seek and destroy any ships they find in the area, and they also have authorization to test the Legion's point defense and shield capabilities against the defense bases - as long as they keep their distance. If they feel they can destroy the bases they have authorization for that as well. It will be four months before we hear from them, since a new gate will need to be constructed on the other side. Primus deSeat von Trubaldsome will be commanding the operation from aboard the Legion, while Centurion Shec will be in command of the strike force guarding the Artifex.

I've also ordered construction of a 5th military academy. We need more crewmen for our vessels. And the Locus yard is being retooled to construct Capio assault shuttles. With the advent of our carrier with 10x range sensors, we may not need the Locus anymore.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 1st November, 2128

According to the census just conducted, population is above 1 billion on Earth for the first time since 2020. 150 million are on Mars, as well.

We've completed the military academy, and I've ordered construction of the parts for five Capio class assault shuttles. The yard producing the Locus is almost finished retooling for construction of the Capio. After that we'll build 100 ordnance factories to prepare for producing missiles when we get them researched.

Aulus Nepius Pantera completed research on terraforming efficiency, now our terraforming modules produce 0.002 atm per annum instead of 0.0015. He's now working on developing a terraforming module for ships that can terraform worlds from orbit. This will allow us to terraform inhospitable worlds like Mercury.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 18th December, 2128

Galerius finished his research into engineering brigades. Now he's working on better ground forces equipment to improve our fighting capabilities (ground unit strength 12).

We should be hearing from the team in Alpha Centauri soon, assuming all has gone according to plan and the gate ship is still building the gate.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 20th December, 2128

Good news! Primus deSeat von Trubaldsome and his team has returned from Alpha Centauri triumphant. The gate is in place and the system is clear. I've included his report in my log for future reference.

An excellent result. Going on a 4 month trip into an alien system and clearing it out is a feat worthy of praise, so I've arranged to have both Primus deSeat von Trubaldsome and Centurion Shec awarded the Semper Fortis medal for bravery.

I'm sending the Artifex to build a gate at the Struve 2398 gate now. The Legionary forces on Earth will move out to escort them, just in case an alien threat may exist in that area that we haven't detected. Our returning military forces will come to Earth for repairs and some shore leave after their 4 month excursion.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 3rd January, 2129

The Legion is a third of the way done with her armor repairs. Repairs should be done by January 23rd.

Gate construction is underway, and we'll have a gate to Struve 2398 in 122 days.

As of today, we have the following facilities on Earth:

Well, the aliens in Alpha Centauri have been dealt with (hopefully). Survey ships haven't yet reported from the systems past Barnard's Star, but when one of them does we can survey Alpha Centauri and see what we've been fighting for. As soon as we get our assault carrier operational we can go forth and capture the ground bases there too, maybe get some loot. Theres only 2 battalions on each asteroid (strength 20 detected, I think thats 2 battalions) so a brigade of mobile infantry should be able to take them on. We can also grab the disabled enemy FACs, assuming they're still disabled where we left them (didn't think to have the Legion check them out).

Just for fun, heres the Legion's armour status after the battle. This is what lots and lots of warhead 1 missiles followed by a bit of gauss fire can do. Nothing ever actually passed through the armor, even though it has that one hole going all the way through.  It's really wide, so I made it a separate post so you can scroll easily.

Good it was armored as shit. We should start establishing our first extrasolar colonies. And destroy their battaillon of course. Where those precursors?

Yea, they were precursors.

I just noticed each 0.1 of armor damage corresponds with 1 cell damaged. That means we took 575 armor damage. If I remember correctly about 530 of that was from the missiles, and we were shooting down about 10 per volley and regening enough shield to take at least 3 missiles extra per volley to the shield plus the initial 100 shield. So that was like 750-800 missiles, and a bunch more blew up as the ship got out of range both times (didn't mention it the second time, but they shot a bunch while I was doing the fly in close and fly away again maneuver - I just avoided them all by flying away since I didnt sit there waiting for 5 minutes that time). It must have fired over 2000 missiles at us.

-edit-

Where should we colonize?

Alpha Centauri B-II is pretty close to being habitable, a bit of oxygen to make it breathable and some anti-greenhouse gas to drop the temp and it's golden. It's a bit farther away though, and we don't yet know what minerals are there yet. We have a gate to there already thanks to our military operations in the system.

Struve 2398 A-II requires a bit more oxygen to be breathable, but is already a good temperature and we know it has lots of good minerals in the system (and on the world). It's the closest world we've found so far, and we'll have a gate to and from the place in about 8 months.

Ross 128 A-II pretty much sucks in comparison. Minerals across the whole system are terrible, and it would need a good bit more terraforming than the others. It's a bit closer than the Alpha Centauri worlds, but it won't really be worth terraforming it until we've already claimed the better worlds (including the extra ones in Struve and Alpha Centauri)

Thats all the worlds we know of so far with a colony cost of less than 4. With terraforming ships we could pick up some of the hotter worlds, but we'll probably want them to do Mercury first.

Ross 128 should completely be a prison system.  You should need a permit to get in.  (Marks for anyone who gets the reference!)

That said AC B-II would be a great first colony, not only because of terraforming aspects but boasting rights to having taken down its evil mechanical guardians.  =D

I love the battles, were they just space battles and orbital bombardment, or were there some ground battle involved, I'm not sure.

Is this technically the first victory of the Roman Republic?

Just space battles. There were no colonies to bombard. Mesons can't bombard anyway.

We'll need to do ground combat to take the asteroid bases though.

Struve looks like the obvious choice to me; it has two planets that need a relatively minimal amount of terraforming (like .17 atm between them?), as opposed to a decent amount of anti-greenhouse or greenhouse gasses for the worlds in Alpha Centauri on top of oxygen.

The Centauri worlds are also orbiting the B component, which might be a problem given the B star is a pretty good ways from the A star. Where's the jump point in relation to the two stars? They're relatively close now, but in a few decades any colonies in Alpha Centauri could be a fair bit farther. A survey of Alpha Centauri might be nice too; we know Struve makes a good mining outpost by default.

I'm still inclined to focus on Struve, though there might be something to be said for depositing colonies on the Alpha Centauri worlds if they're currently approaching the jump point (instead of waiting for a few years and having to chase them to dump colonists and terraformers on).

If Centurai has any intra-system jump points between A and B, it might make a pretty good base of operations for a military fleet.

No intra-system jumps in Alpha Centauri. And the distance from Earth for the Alpha Centauri worlds was already taking into account the range from the primary star (the JP to there is much closer, in the asteroid belt - the Struve one is way out past Uranus). Actual range from the JP would vary by about 0.9b km since it's 447m km from the star. The orbital period is 82 years though, and right now its about equidistant from the JP and the star. In about 20 years it'll be at the closest point, which means you'd shave off 447m km from my estimate. Another 41 and you'd have to add 447m to my estimate.

Struve has intra-system jumps, but there isn't much of interest there. We may want to mine the 8th planet on the secondary, so the LPs would help for delivering automines (the Struve secondary is 55 AU from the primary, the Alpha Centauri one is only 23) but there aren't any colonizeable worlds there. What gives Struve the distance is just that the JP is 20.9 AU out, almost as far as the secondary in Alpha Centauri.

-edit-
lol, I never really played with assault shuttles before now - and I just found a rather bad design flaw in our shuttles.

I always thought loading from a ship to a drop module on a FAC in the hangar bay would use the mothership's cargo modifier to make loading faster. It doesn't. So our drop modules take 10 days to load instead of 6 hours.

I guess I'll have to redesign the next gen Capio ships with a cargo handling system. Which means the hangar capacity on the carrier will have to be expanded.

Oh well, for now we'll have a 10 day load time on our drop ships lol. Maybe I'll research improved cargo handling system so I can cut it down to a 1 day load time with only one of them. This will make them a good bit slower though.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 21st January, 2129

The Legion 1 is fully repaired, and is now out on task force training with 20 Legionaries.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 16st February, 2129

With the exploration teams still out exploring with no ETA, I've decided to build another Ptolemy survey vessel to send through the gate and survey Alpha Centauri. I'll have the construction factories build the engines and sensors for the shipyard, and it should be ready in April.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 20th April, 2129

The Ptolemy 3 just launched, and is headed to Alpha Centauri to begin survey.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 5th May, 2129

The gate to Struve 2398 has completed, and the Artifex is going through to the other side to build a return gate. Twenty Legionaries and a Locus are accompanying it as escort. We'll two way transport to Struve 2398 in another 121 days.

The five Capio assault shuttles have finished building. Another month and we'll have the Vincere, then together they can go and conquer the asteroid bases in Alpha Centauri.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 4th June, 2129

The Vincere 1 has finished construction. I've transferred Primus deSeat von Trubaldsome to her, since the crew was 3/4 conscripts and they'll need someone with experience to train them. Centurion Shec has taken over command of the Legion 1.

A major design flaw was found with our Capio vessels as well. The logistics of getting troops from the carrier into the smaller vessel has proved difficult, and cargo handling systems will need to be added to the Capio. Until then, the loading of the Capio will take 10 days - an uncomfortable wait for the infantry being loaded.

Regardless, they can still do their job. They'll load two brigades of mobile infantry and then head to Alpha Centauri to take the bases and ships there. The Legion and her Legionaries will escort them, just in case they find more enemy ships.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 18th June, 2129

The 3rd and 4th mobile infantry brigades have been dropped off on Asteroid 1 and are preparing to assault the enemy forces. Ground unit commander Primus Vibius Mucius Vespillo will be leading the operation.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 20th June, 2129

The attack on the enemy base on asteroid 1 has begun, but so far no gains have been made. I'll make a note of it when we've taken the asteroid and I've received the Primus' report.

(attack strength 75.972, combat ratio 2.7133)

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 7th August, 2129

An incredible find! During the survey of Alpha Centauri-B II the Ptolemy 3 found deserted intact cities. I've organized a team of our best men in the field of xenology (130 rating) and the Locus 4 will deliver them to the planet to begin studying these cities.

The gate from Struve should be complete next month, so I'm sending a load of Infrastructure and colonists through to get things started. The ships can come back when the return gate is done.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 16th August, 2129

The base on Asteroid 1 in Alpha Centauri has been secured after nearly two months of combat. I'm attaching the report to my log for future reference.

Next they'll be heading to secure the base on asteroid 41. The Vincere should have them all moved over within a day or two, then they can begin the attack.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 6th September, 2129

The gate from Struve 2398 just completed, and our cargo and colony ships have returned with news. The new colony on Struve 2398 II is doing fine with 30 infrastructure and 0.1m colonists. Some of the colonists are suggesting I name it, as Struve 2398-A II is a lousy name for a colony. I'll ask the Senate for suggestions on a good name.

Now that they're on the grid as it were, the civilians should be happy to begin shipping them things. They will likely build up the planet more than we do, since they have more ships. Soon we can move the terraforming installations to them from Mars, since Mars is getting close to being fully terraformed.

The Artifex is heading to build a gate to Ross 128 now.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 26th September, 2129

Geological survey of Alpha Centauri is complete. Only three mineral sites, but they all offer good quantities. B-II is the world with the abandoned cities, and would be a good place to mine Sorium once we have a colony established there.

The base on Asteroid 41 in Alpha Centauri has been secured after over a month of combat. I'm attaching the report to my log for future reference.

Now the 3rd brigade, which suffered no losses during the fighting, is being brought to capture the FACs that were disabled by the Legionaries during our first assault. We'll load them into drop modules when we get there.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 8th October, 2129

We've captured the three enemy FACs. The 10th battalion and HQ are on one, the 11th and 12th on another, and the 9th on a third. All ships were captured without much effort, since they were small craft. The ships were brought aboard the Legion for repair and refueling, and the deck crews patched them up. The 3rd mobile infantry brigade is now flying the ships back to Earth. The Legion and Vincere are also returning.

These ships have some advanced technology beyond our capabilities. Some type of compressed carbon armor, a fusion powered engine, and advanced sensors and missile fire controls. The launchers are basically just stripped down versions of what we already have, so we probably won't learn much from them - but the rest could prove enlightening to disassemble. Or we could use them ourselves, we have a small stock of their missiles after all - enough for two loads for these three FACs.

Spoiler: Enemy FAC design (click to show/hide)

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 23rd October, 2129

The Legion and Vincere are back at Earth. All ground units have been unloaded so they can recuperate and fill the ranks with new recruits. The 9th, 10th, and 12th battalions are still grumbling about the conditions during the 10 days while loading into the drop pods, but they'll be fine with a little R&R.

Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 6th November, 2129

We've completed the 100 ordnance factories, but they don't yet have anything to produce. Most of them have already been moved to Mars, a few more are still being moved by the two first generation Corbita cargo ships.

We've begun construction on 10 more terraforming installations for our colony worlds. In about six months the Mars colony will be finished terraforming and the 30 there can be moved elsewhere well. Struve will need about 4 years of terraforming with 20 terraformers, or a little over 2 years with all 40 - although getting enough people there to run all 40 might not be feasible in the short term.

I've also had a massive 165,000 ton terraforming ship designed for future construction. We've been constantly expanding the latest commercial shipyard, and it's up to 131000 - so we will be able to build these fairly soon.

Spoiler: Terraformer (click to show/hide)

It's been two years since we've heard from our exploration teams. They should be returning soon with a report on the systems past Barnard's Star.

The civilians have been bringing supplies to Struve 2398-A II, and the colony is up to .7 million colonists with infrastructure for .9 million so far - and more ships are on the way. We'll need to get the population to about 9.5 million to run 20 terraformers.

In all the time I've played this game, I have never seen deserted intact cities (note the plural). Once I found a deserted intact city and it had a whopping 1400 installations, so I have to wonder how many this one will have.

Plus we have 54 size 5 ASMs and 5268 size 1 AMMs, and the three missile FACs. Not a bad haul :D

What should we do with the FACs? Take em apart for the tech boost, or load them up with the size 5 missiles we found and use them against the next enemy we find? We have enough missiles for two full reloads for them.

We can also salvage tech from the wrecks in the system, although we'll need to research salvage modules and build a salvager. And a new shipyard, since I've kinda relegated that one to terraformer construction. Although we could refit the gate builder yard to produce a salvager... It's not like we're going to need a bunch of gate builders anyway, the one can probably build all the gates we'll need.

Ooh, we could strip down one of the FACs and use the other two.  Also, suggesting 'Antium' for the Struve colony name.  I believe it was a small town just outside Rome.
