Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 15th July, 2132The Senate is divided on what to do with these aliens. Some want to leave them be or establish trading relations, while others want to send in troops and conquer them for the glory of Rome. Still others just want to bombard them from orbit until they surrender.
We've begun attempting communication with them to try and determine who exactly they are.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 11th August, 2132We've managed to translate the language of these aliens. They identify themselves as the Motala Clan, and appear to resemble gorillas from Earth. I presume their thick fur is what allows them to live on such a cold world.
Those in the Senate voting for conquest via troops seem to have won out. I've begun enlarging the commercial shipyard we used to build a gate ship in anticipation of building a large troop carrier. I've also adjusted research to focus on finishing the salvage module research quickly so Galerius can then focus on researching ground unit technology. Having a division level command center would be helpful for large scale combat, so I will have him research a division HQ.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 11th October, 2132Research on salvage module 500 is complete, and Galerius is now working on divisional headquarters.
A new salvager has been designed on the Corbita III frame, which can be built in the yards tooled for the Frigus III.

This design is classed as a Commercial Vessel for maintenance purposes
We can't build them until the two Frigus vessels are completed, in March 2134.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 16th November, 2132All of our automated mines have been completed, bringing us to 150 divided between our three mining locations. I've ordered a 5th ground force training facility built to help train ground forces for the eventual invasion of the Motala Clan.
The mine on Asteroid 162 has been fully transferred to Comet 1 as well, since the sorium there dried up.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 30th January, 2133The ground force training facility is completed. Construction has returned to automated mines, we'll be producing another 50.
The geology team has been finding various mineral deposits in the Struve system. They've finished survey of the two colony sites and are now surveying other large worlds in the system.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 13th March, 2133Akigagak and exploration team 1 just reported back. They surveyed the system of Ross 248, finding no jump points other than the entry point and not enough minerals to even bother reporting - just over 2000 assorted minerals scattered across the asteroid belt. The only possibly useful thing in the system is a cold world with good gravity, but it has no minerals or hydrosphere.
Ross 248-A II: Colony Cost: 3.35, Temperature: -73.7, Gravity: 1.03, Orbit: 15.8m
Nitrogen 79%, Oxygen (0.02) 17.4%, Flourine 3.6%, Pressure: 0.11
They're heading back to Earth for refueling, and will then head to Ross 128 to take 2nd jump point there.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 5th June, 2133The shipyard has reached the size required to produce our new large troop transport ship, and is being retooled for it.
The design:
Tetsudo class Troop Transport 113,300 tons 1159 Crew 4663.5 BP TCS 2266 TH 7480 EM 0
3300 km/s Armour 7-208 Shields 0-0 Sensors 1/1/0/0 Damage Control Rating 1 PPV 0

Troop Capacity: 25 Battalions Cargo Handling Multiplier 20
Magneto-plasma Drive E0.84 (34) Power 220 Fuel Use 8.4% Signature 220 Armour 0 Exp 2%
Fuel Capacity 465,000 Litres Range 87.9 billion km (308 days at full power)
This design is classed as a Commercial Vessel for maintenance purposes
They were designed to be a heavily armored vessel with the same speed as our military carriers, so that they can accompany them on invasions. The troop capacity is intended to carry 1 full division of troops with 4 replacement battalions.
Retooling is a significant change from the gate ships, and won't be done until May 2136. By the time we have a troop transport constructed we should have enough troops trained to load it. The current plan is to use two marine brigades (the 2nd which is partly trained now, and should be fully ready in 2134), one brigade of mobile infantry, and one brigades of assault infantry still to be trained. The Vincere can bring in another brigade of mobile infantry as well, giving us 5 brigades of troops and 4 replacement battalions.
Galerius also finished research into shipyard operations recently, he's now working on improving our ship building rates.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 29th June, 2133Our fourth Fons Vitae terraformer has been completed. Thanks to the additional slipway that was added last month, we now have two more being built that will both be done in 2135.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 18th September, 2133The colony in Alpha Centauri-B II just reached 10 million, and are demanding military protection. I've sent the two alien FACs to them as a token measure until we can construct a PDC and Legionaries for them. They also wanted a name. I've decided to name it Alexandria, the home city of the two ancient scientists that our exploration vessels are named after. It seems only fitting to name a colony in honor of them, since those ships have expanded our frontiers dramatically, and will continue to do so for many years to come.
I've also ordered 50 mines moved to Antium to begin mining the deposits there. As the colony grows and more workers are available I'll move more there. The world has massive mineral deposits that we can mine for many years.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 23rd September, 2133The engineers on Alexandria just disturbed an underground vault full of hostile robotic soldiers. The two mobile infantry brigades there should be able to crush them without a problem, they already inflicted 51% losses on one of their battalions while repelling their initial attack.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 9th October, 2133The atmosphere of Alexandria has just become breathable, and they've switched to adding anti-greenhouse gas now to reduce the temperature a bit.
Defense against the robotic soldiers went well. The mobile infantry kept them from escaping the vault, killing anything as it came out. Nothing attacked this week, so they believe they got them all.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 20th October, 2133I just got a report back from exploration team 2 about LHS 292. It has some large mineral deposits, but their accessibility is low except for the Duranium. The minerals on the only terraformable world are pretty poor. The two jumps are quite a ways out from the entry point as well. All in all an OK system, but many others are better.

Both jumps about 2b km from JP3.
They're now heading to explore the third jump in Alpha Centauri.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 8th November, 2133Exploration team 2 just sent back an initial report on the system beyond Alpha Centauri's 3rd JP.

Not much there. They'll report back on other jumps and the mineral content of the worlds when the surveys are finished.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 8th December, 2133They recovered another research lab on Alexandria. It will be shipped back to Earth as soon as possible.
We've also started a colony on Struve 2398-A III. Right now it only has 0.1m people, but it will be growing in the coming years. Once Antium is fully terraformed the terraformers can be moved there.
Research on ground unit strength 20 is now complete. Galerius is going to continue researching this topic, and will have strength up to 25 before we assault the alien homeworld.
Administrator Lucius Amatius Proculus' Personal Log, 3rd January, 2134Our researchers have significantly increased their skill over time.
Top scientists in their fields are currently:
MonkeyHead: Power and Propulsion 60%, max 60 labs
Numerius Falerius Arruntius: Sensors and Fire Control 60%, max 50 labs
Aulus Nepius Pantera: Construction and Production 60%, max 40 labs
Zebulon: Defensive Systems 30%, max 35 labs
Galerius Lafrenius: Logistics/Ground Combat 35%, max 50 labs
Vibius Salvius Trebius: Energy Weapons 65%, max 45 labs
Numerius Vispanius Censorius: Biology/Genetics 20%, max 20 labs
Missiles / Kinetic Weapons still lacking.
We have 10 other scientists from various fields, but still have no missiles/kinetic weapon specialist.
Earth's population is up to 1098.29m. Mars is at 189.12m. Antium is up to 18.52m people. Alexandria has 11.3m. The new colony at Struve 2398-A III has 0.4m. Antium should be fully terraformed in 4 or 5 months. Alexandria has the temperature down to 65 - they'll need to get it to 44 to be habitable without infrastructure. Mercury is down to 362 degrees celcius, although it will still take a good many years to fully terraform the place. More terraforming ships will speed up the process as they are constructed.
We have 54452 denarii left in our treasury, having spent about 15500 more than we took in over the last year. I'm not too worried about it, as we're expecting to plunder significant wealth from the alien homeworld when we conquer it in a few years.

Motala Clan = Gorilla Olympics?
What do you think of the name I picked for the dedication to our exploration ships?
So iceballs like Europa/Enceladus would be up thier street?
Well, higher gravity iceballs - their gravity is higher than Earth's, so they will probably have a higher minimum gravity than humans. And I think the actual limit to terraforming to 0 degrees (min human tolerance) is about -180 (by adding around 1.8 atm of greenhouse gas, so it is quite expensive terraforming-wise as with the oxygen it'd take like 1.9 atm), depending on the planet's albedo. All the worlds that are like -180 to -200 or so that we've seen might be terraformed to suit them where they would never suit humans though.
