Why won't Recruit Die?
« on: September 19, 2011, 08:47:11 am »

My greatest fortress is on the verge of destruction. After the Great Tantruming of the Winter of 140, the great Fortress of Wrunggild has been reduced from 215 to 46. After that, a forgotten beast by the name of Tharama, a mite made of Rhyiolite killed 43 of the members. Of those left, there's a planter, a miner, and a paralzyed recruit lying in bed. However, despite being savaged by two beasts, a stone mite and a scaly mosquito, he will not die!

Keep him alive.  Get some migrants.  Make him king!

Maybe the FB are jumping on the bed? Killing dwarves is hard work you know... and everyone needs to have some fun from time to time :]

Is he unconscious?  I have had issues features with unconscious creatures refusing to die until they wake up.  This includes a single war rhino distracting a dozen trolls for a month as they could think of nothing more enjoyable than battering the poor thing, giving my militia enough time to get into gear.  The flipside was a single KO'd goblin occupied my whole militia in the next siege, so noone was available to stop the rest of the siege.  Their priorities were clear: the safety of the fortress comes second.  First is finding out who can whip their shield at Axmu's skull the hardest.

This recruit's stats are AMAZING, I have never seen a more physically powerful dwarf ( sure, Ironblood, Morul, yeah, but this is the first screen I've seen with those stats ).  He is perfectly suited to withstanding intense physical trauma.  Sadly, he is going to die eventually.

You want to keep him and build a few traps to kill those FBs..

OR! Build a statue and try getting your other two people to hold a party near that recruit, the FBs will enjoy killing that guy even more.

OR! His heart is broken. He is too miserable to die. Whisper 'I love you' in his ear, then he'll die... or slaughter everyone around other than the person who whispered in his ear.

OR! He has a very long beard, it may be negating all damage from above. (He's lying, his beard covers him.)

Also.. He has a high-pitched voice and his hips are broken (can't find lower body torn open on that pic)... Guess why his voice is like that? (He IS a male)

To answer your questions, he was concious the entire time and died after another hundred combat logs. He was also the last person in my fort to die.

Good lord, are his stats edited? That is one hell of a list for a recruit.

Nope, he was a random genned dwarf. The perfect soldier, he would have been, if he went into my Danger Room. I'll just reload a save and turn him into the Dwarven Ubersoldier.

I haven't really paid much attention to stat growth... wouldn't any old dwarf end up like that, given enough time in a Danger Room?

Yup, but the unique thing is that he was already like that without any Danger Room Training.
