First PC Build-Comments, Questions, Concerns?

So, I have been toying around with a number of builds for my first custom build. I have some experience in PC work, I've replaced/installed a GPU before, I've completely taken apart a PC and rebuilt it, but never anything of value. I have a few questions and concerns, I thought that I should try the DF community for comments, as it seems to be a pretty great community. Here are my pre-specifications (all in CDN dollars):

Does anyone know if this is a good deal? These are all from a local store named Memory Express (although if there is something on NewEgg, I will gladly buy it from there), and they are somewhat big in Western Canada. They DO have a pricematch policy though, so if it's in CDN dollars, ships to Canada, and is in stock, they'll drop the price and beat it by 25% of the drop. In addition, is it worth the extra $100.00 for the 560 TI version? Any help would be much appreciated. If any more info is needed, just post here and I will be more than happy to provide.

if i was spending that much personally i'd go for the i7 2600k

i take it the storm enforcer is the fan - i don't see the need to spend £50 on cooling unless you're going to be overclocking. (though don't just take my word for it :p)

i'm sure i don't need to mention you can cut out the price of the os by using linux or other methods.

seems like a good deal to me - i paid £600 a few years back and you're getting a lot more than what i got. nothing in britain is anywhere near as cheap as newegg or the like :(

Thanks for the tips! I will do NO OC'ing, and I would probably never use the full capabilities of an i7. An i5 is plenty for me  :D . And I want Windows in it, Linux isn't my thing. Wine doesn't work with Steam, and since the rig's main purpose is for games and DF, plus MS Office, Windows is a must. Once again, thanks, all input is awesome.

If there's one golden rule I've learned about gaming hardware....

If you can afford future proofing, get something future proof. The i7 could potentially last you years, from high-end gaming all the way down to slumming it when we're all sporting 6ghz quadcores.

For example, I've got an i5 750 that I bought direct from Intel at a steal....but I'm kind of kicking myself I couldn't afford the 2500 version now. Still a great processor.

It's not really always about what hardware is doing for you right now, but what it will do you for years down the road. Buying smart and up to your budget means you not worrying about anything for a while. Plus it seems like the newest games right now are starting to cash in on having a good multicore processor.

Dont buy the k processors if you dont want to overclock! Go for a 2500 or the 2400 instead. The i7-2600k is practically the same as the 2500k but with hyperthreading and more cache. Both not really usefull for gaming (at that price difference).
The 560Ti is WAY better than the normal 560 for gaming. Alternatives would be the AMD Radeon HD6950 or HD5870 (if you dont care about power consumtion). You should take whichever of them is cheaper.

Other than that: great system! Just maybe add another 8Gigs of RAM... its just too cheap these days :D
