Woke up at 8:12. Breakfast was an omelette with some sort of fried root vegetable. Not the best, but better than Cassidy's.
Titthal woke up at 10:21. Asked her why we're still sticking around in New Reno. Apparently she's on the trail of something big. Eventually one of the Mordinos will realize that she's working for the Salvatores and then I'll be out of a job. She seems unconcerned though. I think she likes the intrigue too much to worry about the risk.
Woke up at 8:09. Breakfast was porridge with slices of fruit.
Titthal didn't return until 12:32. Apparently she stayed overnight in one of those Mordino drug dens. She stayed long enough to grab some lunch before heading out to meet with Mr. Salvatore. The rest of us headed over to the Cat's Paw. Aberly has been having some money issues lately. Her landlord is going to call in the rent early. Apparently he's run into a bad string of luck at the casinos. She's even running double shifts at the Cat's Paw she isn't going to make enough money in time. I lent her $100 to help tide her over, and promised to help her find another job. Still, I don't know how she's going to meet the deadline without running herself ragged.
Woke up at 8:10. Breakfast was a couple slices of toast with jams and lard.
Titthal awoke at her usual time today. She must have snuck in before we returned. She brought at TX3 Radio Directional Receiver with her. Real high-tech spy stuff. It was half broken, of course, and she wants it fixed as soon as possible. She left after breakfast, but promised to be back in the evening to see if it was working. A shipment of slaves came in today, so Sulik left to look for his sister.
Cassidy finally left to find a bar or something. Now I can finally work in peace.
Woke up at 8:01. Breakfast was toast with a slice of Brahmin meat and cheese.
I managed to get the TX3 working last night around 10:49. Now we're supposed to monitor the north end of the city for any radio broadcasts between 108.1 kHz and 120.1 kHz. A couple of Salvatore men came over to help us. Cassidy is probably going to organize a poker game later tonight. Titthal went out after breakfast to buy some stuff, no clue what.
Cassidy: $406 $343
Sulik: $89
Vic: -$39
Samson: -$105 -$113
Jerry: -$351 -$280
Woke up at 8:07. Breakfast was straight-up porridge.
Titthal seemed pleased at the information we gathered last night. Turns out that she bought a bunch a weapons, armour and ammo yesterday. Apparently we're gearing up for 'the big one' and I'm supposed to make sure that everything is in working condition. Of\ course the TX3 isn't working now, so I'm going to have to fix that too. If I'm lucky I can get everything done by midnight.
Armour seems fine. I just needed to fix a couple bullet-holes and add a couple more plates for protection. The modifications Titthal requested for her armour is finished as well. I doubt that it'll protect her any better, so I suppose that it was a fashion type thing. She's going over it with some thread and needle as I write this.
The super sledge seems fine. I haven't really seen anything like it before, but all the wires and connections are working properly. It just needed a couple of balance adjustments before Sulik was happy with it. I have no clue how Cassidy still manages to fill his CAWS with so much dust. We've spent the last few day in New Reno and it looks like I've just found it in the wastes. My old pistol is still fine. I should really ask Titthal for a better weapon some of these days.
It's 1:32 and I've finally fixed the TX3. A A-06 vacuum tube was burnt out and I had to fiddle a A-04 into the same slot. It won't last for more than a couple days, so hopefully we'll be done before then.
Woke up at 8:59. Breakfast was porridge again.
A couple of Salvatore's men came and took the TX3 away. Titthal was pissed to see them. Apparently Mr. Salvatore has changed the plans around, whatever they might me. Titthal has gone off to argue with him about the changes, so the rest of the day is free.
Aberly was happy to see me today. Some Bishop goons got her landlord, and the new one is still trying to short out the books. She tried to give me the $100 back, but I told her that I didn't need it. She seemed really thankful for the help.
Woke up at 8:10 today. Breakfast was an omelette with Brahmin bacon and some fruit. Today's the big day, so we'll need the energy.
Titthal briefed us before lunch. For the last couple of days she's trying to find out where the Mordinos were producing their Jet. Thanks to the TX3 she's tracked it down to a place to the north of the city called 'The Stables'. Originally the plan was to go with a bunch of Salvatore goons to shoot the place up, but now Mr. Salvatore has changed it to a simple scouting mission for Titthal. She's pissed as hell about the change, but there's nothing she can do.
Good Rob. The Stables is a horrible, horrible place. The Mordinos were conducting drug tests on slaves in that place and conditions were simply horrible. People packed into cages like animals, wallowing in
We've returned from the Stables. Titthal has promised each and every one of us that we'll never go there again. Good Rob. The guards in the place were stunned to see Titthal. Her armour seemed to hug her body so that every single step and movement seemed like, well I rather not say in case Aberly gets jealous. Thanks to Titthal I managed to take a bunch of pictures without anybody noticing. Only Sulik seemed unaffected by her charms, but you can never tell with him. Not everything worked out fine though. While we were exploring the bowels of the facility a couple of guards opened fire on us. We managed to overpower them easily though, the only casualty being Titthal's needlework. Of course Titthal wanted to see what the guards were guarding after she tended to her wounds. We all seemed surprised to find some snot-nosed teenager. His name was Myron, and apparently he was the mastermind behind Jet. At first we were all a bit skeptical, but he seems to know his stuff. Titthal convinced him to come with us, though she didn't have to try very hard. Judging by the way he was looking at her you'd have thought that she was naked and making out with Miss Kitty. He's been handled over to the Salvatores now.
Woke up at 9:09 today. Feel sore all over. Breakfast was some gruel and fruit. Rained an inch overnight.
Titthal finally got permission from Mr. Salvatore to leave. We've spent too much time in New Reno when we coud have been heading to Vault 15. Myron's joining us on the trip, and Titthal isn't pleased. The Salvatores have been having a rough time with him, and they think that Titthal can teach him some displine and respect. After spending an hour with him I can see what they mean. He's the biggest most arrogant jerk I've ever seen. He's probably also the brightest person since Rob, and he knows more Pre-War knowledge than anybody else.
The packing is finished, and the Highwayman is ready to go for tomorrow. Titthal has forbidden anybody from leaving tonight, which means that we're all going to the Cat's Paw while Myron stays in his room.
Aberly was sad to hear that I was leaving tomorrow. We've promised to write to each other as much as possible, but knowing how Titthal drives the Highwayman I'd be lucky if I see any of her letters. Still, we have one last night together, and that's all that counts.
Titthal woke us all up at 7:42 today, so that we can get an early start on the journey. Myron refused to get up so early, so Sulik picked him up and chucked him in the trunk. We all had a big laugh about that. Breakfast was a couple slices of bread and some cold vegetables from the night before.
Woke up at 7:59 today. Breakfast was some gruel.
Myron was displeased about spending last night in the trunk of the car, and started haranguing us about it after we gave him some gruel. Eventually he decided to wander off to relieve himself, much to our relief.
Myron made the mistake of trying to watch Titthal undress, so he'll be spending the rest of the day in the trunk again.
Woke up at 7:42 today. Breakfast was more gruel. Reached the New California Republic at 12:37. I made sure to take lots of pictures to send to Aberly.
Cassidy wasn't happy when we arrived at Shady Sands. The place reminded him too much of Vault City. The place looks just as advanced, though I think that the NCR could beat Vault City in a war. Shady Sands is a nicer place though. Citizenship seems easy to get, and movement into the inner city is open to all. All the squatters outside the city seem to be never-do-wells and people who can't afford to rent buildings inside the city proper. Titthal got us some rooms inside the city before going off somewhere to look for a job. I'm not sure if she'll find one. Half the people in Shady Sands seem to be policemen. We'll see.
Woke up at 8:11 today. Breakfast was gruel with some fruit and cheese.
Titthal came back displeased. She hadn't managed to find any of the usual work in the bazaar outside the city. Somehow she managed to take a couple Bozars off the guards, but I have no idea how. never mind. Tomorrow I'll take a look at them in case we need to sell them.
Woke up at 8:07 today. Breakfast was more gruel.
We'll finally be heading over to Vault 15 tomorrow. Titthal wouldn't say why exactly, but Cassidy has been bar-hopping, and he says that the NCR would take over Vault 15 if it wasn't for some squatters. Myron isn't pleased about heading to Vault 15, though nobody is surprised.
Woke up at 8:11 today. Breakfast was some toast with jam.
Reached Vault 15 by 11:21. Myron spent the trip in the trunk when he claimed the front seat when it was Sulik's turn. It's probably for the best. Sadly the squatters aren't actually in Vault 15, just on the land around it, so I won't be able to lay my hands on any Vault technology soon.
Titthal's pissed. Most of the squatters refuse to have anything to do with her, and the rest refuse to talk about joining the NCR or moving on. Myron made some snide comment towards her, so back into the trunk he goes. Cassidy was talking about just leaving him in the trunk until we needed him. I'm not sure whether he was joking or not. As of 1:32 Titthal is talking with som
The Khan Raiders have established a base in Vault 15. They've been giving food from raided caravans to the squatters, and in return they try to protect the raiders as much as possible. The Khan were telling the squatters that the food was coming from the Vault, so they're all surprised to learn the truth. Titthal is a big hero to them now. She saved the daughter of one of the squatters, who was kidnapped by the Khan for finding out too much about them. We'll be heading into Vault 15 soon, to see if we can't kick the Khan out or something.
Good Rob. Vault 15 is full of raiders. Thank Rob that Titthal decided to scout the place out before we went in guns blazing. The Khan have been building up their strength, so she acted like she was new to the place and got past the guards. The power is off in Vault 15, so she couldn't grab any information about Vault 13 on her first trip through. Myron knows more about Vault-Tec stuff than I do, so we're going to drag him out of the trunk and see if we can't get the generators running.
We got the power running. The generator had blown out a fuse Rob knows how many years ago, and it wouldn't start again until I reset it. While Titthal and Myron went down to the Vault library, I checked out the manufacturing areas and helped myself to whatever was lying around. I can't wait to tell Aberly about this!
Woke up at 7:42 today. Break was some flapjacks and bacon. Myron found the location of Vault 13 in the computer databases, so we'll be heading in that direction today.
Made a quick stop in Shandy Sands for supplies at 10:21. Myron managed to avoid getting stuffed in the trunk so far, but he's arguing with Titthal as I speak this.
Yep, Myron is going back into the trunk.
Arrived at a small cave by 2:56. According to the records the entrance to Vault 13 should be in there, but I'm not too sure.
Good Rob. I thought that Vault 15 was impressive, but it's been abandoned and misused for so long. Vault 13 has been running for is just so amazing I just can't describe it. Aberly is going to be jealous when I tell her. Goris says that Vault 13 is only running at a fraction of what it used to do, and that during Rob's day it was full of people, and capable of producing such wonderful designs and machinery that would make even Primus's work look primitive. Personally I think that Goris is lying a bit. After all, his information is mostly second-hand.
When we first entered the Vault one of Goris's more intelligent pack-mates was guarding the door. Myron ducked behind Sulik and Cassidy turned completely white. Sulik looked like he always did, but I think I heard a trickle of urine coming from him. Having heard a couple rumours about Deathclaws I was ready to run if Gruthar made the slightest move in my direction. Thankfully for us Titthal managed to keep her cool and began to talk to Gruthar. If he had been a wild Deathclaw she would have been shredded to bits in a second. Cassidy maintains that Gruthar turned as docile as a Brahmin calf when she touched him, but I'm not so sure. My eyes might have been closed at the time though, so maybe I missed it. According to Goris the original inhabitants of Vault 13 were cleared out by the Enclave a couple years before. The Deathclaws were forced to help, since they hadn't managed to escape from the Enclave at that point. They became repentant of their actions afterwards, which just illustrates the power of Rob I suppose. When the Deathclaws finally escaped from the Enclave they headed out to Vault 13, since it was one of the few places that they knew about. Not all the Deathclaws stayed in Vault 13 though. The Enclave experimented with different ways of increasing Deathclaw intelligence, and so some of the Deathclaws needed a constant source of serum to maintain their intellect. Those ones left Vault 13 when they became too wild. Some other Deathclaws left of their own free will too. The Enclave were fiddling around with the minds of the Deathclaws to create the perfect soldier, and obviously that caused some of them to become crazed and anti-social.
It was a good thing that we arrived when we did. The Deathclaws couldn't operate the machinery directly, and instead relied on voice commands. Eventually the thing broke, and none of the various humans in Vault 13 could fix it. To make matters worse the main computer wouldn't accept keyboard input. Things like air and power are running on automatic now, but food and water can only be dispensed on command. To prevent everybody from starving the Deathclaws have been raiding caravans every now and again. Titthal has handed me the computer voice module she got in New Reno, so I'm going to have to take a look at the thing. Since the thing is most likely Vault technology Myron is going to join me. Goris is going to watch as well, since he's a scholar and this kind of stuff interests him. Cassidy heart has been acting up since we entered the Vault, so he's been sent to sick bay with Sulik. Titthal is probably going to walk around and talk with everybody like she usually does.
Turns out that the central computer is made from Brotherhood technology of all things, so I didn't need Myron after all. Myron ran to the sick bay when I told him so, probably because he thinks that Cassidy and Sulik could protect him. Goris makes a good assistant. Admittedly he can't actually hand me any tools, but he's perceptive and seems genuinely interested in what I'm doing. The old voice module in the computer didn't fail as I had expected, rather it looks like sabotage to me. Titthal has told me to keep quiet about it, but Goris knows about it already, so it won't be long till he tells the rest of his pack. Gruthar was pleased that the computer now works. While I was fixing the computer he searched the stores of the Vault, and managed to find a couple of GECKs. He only gave us one though, but that should be enough for Arroyo. He's also given us permission to stay the night, since Cassidy is still recovering.
Titthal held a late night meeting in the sick bay. I was surprised to see Goris there, but Titthal has talked to him and apparently he's joining the party. Titthal said that it was to keep him from blabbing about sabotage until we were well away from the place, but I think that she just wants to have a Deathclaw in her employ. According to her most of the humans in Vault 13 are either Rob Botherers or refugees. The Rob Botherers get to stay because if word got out about the location of Vault 13 then half the population of the NCR would be here within a week. None of them seem to care, because being prisoner in Vault 13 is almost like being king of your town. The refugees stay in Vault 13 because they have no other place to stay. Most of them were rescued by the Deathclaws from raiders or wild animals, so they feel a kind of loyalty to the Deathclaws. Some of them go to Shady Sands every month or so to trade food and water for goods that they can't get in Vault 13. Goris talked some more about the Enclave's project to create super-soldiers out of Deathclaws for Cassidy's benefit. Apparently the Enclave didn't want the Deathclaws to be too smart to disobey orders, which explains why most of them are barely smarter than children. Ironically the Deathclaw pups are generally smarter than the adults, since they're all Gruthar's children, and only Goris surpasses him in intelligence. The meeting ended with Titthal laying out a travel schedule. Basically we're going to quickly stop in the NCR for supplies before heading up to Arroyo to drop off the GECK. After that we'll give Goris a tour of the different towns while completing some jobs along the way. With the Highwayman we should be able to finish the whole trip in a couple months. She's never planned such a trip in such detail before. I think that after finding the GECK she's a bit uncertain about what to do next.Scumbag USEC_OFFICER complains about having writer's block and then posts a turn the very next day. To be fair though, this update is in a completely different style, which is probably why I managed to finish it. It's also really long, which is why it took me at least three hours to write it. I might include screenshots tomorrow. Right now I'm far too tired to go searching through the screenshots and make captions and whatnot for them.
Anyways I have a couple of questions about Goris. Would giving him brass or spiked knuckles be worthwhile? His claws are damaging enough already, and I'm not sure if those weapons will stack with his natural "Being a freaking Deathclaw" killing bonus. Also, can he wear armour? For some reason I can see the game preventing him from wearing any armour, and I don't want to shell out the cash for something completely useless.
Since I'll probably be in the area anyways, would it be a good idea to go to Broken Hills? I'm about 500+ exp. towards the next level, and I'll probably pick all of it up before I reach the area, but more experience never hurt anybody. Plus I should probably visit the place at least once.
Bleh. If I can think of anything else to ask I'll let you know.
