Super Sledge is super fun - Give it to Sulik, he hits someone and knocks them halfway across the screen. Whoop whoop!

Excellent. Definitively worth all my money then.

There's actually a number of towns you haven't visited yet, and pretty much every one is worth visiting. :P I enjoyed Broken Hills anyways - got some of the best sidequests in the game and a nice potential companion character (assuming you aren't full). Not my favorite companion, mind you, but pretty nice.

What towns haven't I visited? Did I forget one, or is it one that I haven't heard of yet? I could have sworn that I visited all the towns on the list. Also, I should be able to have one or two more companions. I took the perk that allows me to have the extra one, but I'm not sure whether the normal amount you can have is three or four.

Also, I noticed you missed some stuff in New Reno - you didn't even visit the Jet lab or meet the potential companion! (I think every city in the game has a follower you can recruit except for Modoc and the final town, which probably would have had one if it wasn't a touch incomplete)

Jet lab? Where? Since I've never used Jet and it's barely worth anything, I'll probably skip it unless said companion is awesome, or loot in the lab is more than just Jet.

Also, did you ever actually save the trapper from the first town? I forget. Probably not, I don't recall you making any money selling golden gecko pelts. :P

Probably not, since the only time that I've seen a golden gecko pelt was when I was trading with some trappers.

I thought the Jet sidequest was pretty fun. Myron is a bit of a dick, though he's got really high science and technical skills, so if you've completely skipped those yourself he's a pretty good tech monkey. He's worthless in a fight though, so not a super big deal to skip - mostly useful for combat heavy characters who feel like skipping Science completely but still want to do sciency-quests.

However, if you have really poor science skill, you NEED science skill to get the best companion. And Myron's brain is pretty valuable if you [information redacted for spoiler reasons].

I think you've missed Ghost Farm, San Francisco, Navarro, NCR, Broken Hills (I think you hit Redding already, right? I forget.) and [censored], of course. I'd assume you haven't heard of most of the ones you've missed, except for the Ghost Farm which you probably just ignored (not a big deal). The names don't mean a whole lot, so I don't mind saying them. I'd assume your character hasn't heard of most of them yet. I'm skipping the more "surprise-ful" locations there.

Fallout 2 is a pretty big game. :P

The cave you rescue the trapper in has some other stuff that's worthwhile (I forget exactly what), but don't know if you really need it at this point in the game. Make sure to bring a good pair of boots unless you like extra toes, if you do go back to finish it at some point!

Number of companions is based on Charisma - how much are you at now? You can always pump some charisma drugs or dig up a pair of shades in Golgotha for the CHA boost if you need it to grab another companion.

Anyways, I vote for NCR next. Broken Hills is really fun, but it always brings me memories of being surrounded by Goons and forced to tell jokes and make them left in order to avoid being murdered and having my stuff added to the "loot for those who make us laugh" pile. (I spent way too long playing the Fallout MMO, and the Something Awful folks used Broken Hills as their base of operations. :P)

Since my ‼SCIENCE‼ is low, I'll have have to get Myron then. Speaking of which, how do you get your companions to use their skills? I can't remember how to (or never knew how to in the first place).

The only ones that I've heard of is Broken Hills and NCR, though I don't seem to know where the NCR is, but I know where Vault 15 is, so I know the general area. Never heard of the Ghost Farm at all, and I'm assuming that the rest I'll encounter eventually.

Fallout 2 is a pretty big game. :P

You're telling me.

The cave you rescue the trapper in has some other stuff that's worthwhile (I forget exactly what), but don't know if you really need it at this point in the game. Make sure to bring a good pair of boots unless you like extra toes, if you do go back to finish it at some point!

If I'm in the area, maybe. I'm assuming at this point that I'll have to head back to Arroyo anyways for the major plot twist (Fallout 1 and 3 both had one), so side tracking is an option.

Number of companions is based on Charisma - how much are you at now? You can always pump some charisma drugs or dig up a pair of shades in Golgotha for the CHA boost if you need it to grab another companion.

My CHA is at 9, but having it at 10 would be much better. Where exactly are the shades? Vic should still be carrying around a shovel from somewhere.

Fallout MMO? Don't tell me, else I'd never get the next turn done.

Yeah, the MMO is basically Fallout 1 + Fallout 2 map combined, with a crafting system and multiplayer in a persistant world. Same isometric playstyle, and lots of fun quests since they opened up pretty much every faction in the game to being joinable and there were lots of fun player-run factions, like the Goon raiders. It was actually really good. But yeah, enough of that, and I won't give you the info you need to track it down since it was never released in the US (despite the game being in english). :P

When you go to use a skill, if theirs is higher they'll say "Hold on, I've got this" and do it for you. Myron has computers and science, I believe, so will do that in those two areas. (or should)

Where was it released? Great Britain only?

Odd. If I remember correctly, I was using my repair skill on something, yet Vic didn't bump in or anything, despite the fact that he has a higher skill.

Hmm.. maybe his skill wasn't actually higher? I don't know. they also MAY need to be fairly close to you, I'm not sure.

Also, the developer was - Waitaminute, you said you didn't want to know anything about it. :P
Anyways the developer was a Russian company with that countries significantly less... stringent, IP laws. The game actually required an original copy of Fallout2 to work as well, since it didn't come with any graphics of its own and hooked into the Fallout2 graphics instead, but it was actually remarkably well designed. One of the better MMOs I played.

The fact that it had permadeath and a bloodthirsty player base was extra fun. :P It seriously constantly kept you on edge, you actually felt like you were roaming a wasteland full of asshole raiders that would fuck your shit up!

Huh. Maybe he couldn't path to it or something.

I didn't. Lucky guess (though I looked it up later).

What's your Repair skill compared to Vics, anyways? His skill isn't really all THAT great, it's just decent.

Also, after you finish this LP I've been having a bit of a hankering to get back into the game, assuming its still running (small MMOs die all the time, after all). I'd be happy to roam the wastes with you!

Seeing as I haven't put anything in Repair in the first place, Vic's skill is certainly greater.

I hope you like waiting. I still have to do Fallout 3 and maybe Tactics, depending on what everyone thinks. Thankfully I don't have New Vegas, else you would be waiting till next year (Though I suppose that I could always play the MMO in between updates).

And I don't actually care about Tactics and FO3, I just want you to finish this one.

Plus why not do a Lets Play of Fallout Online next? :P

But what if other people want me to play Tactics and FO3?  Think of the children readers!

...

Is anybody else actually reading this thread?

I AM thinking of your readers. And how much they'd enjoy a bit of Fallout Online.

(Also, Meph and Sheb at least, I think.)

Then I'll put up a poll when we get to that point.

(Also, I'm asking because for the last few days we've have been having a conversation in the thread)

Well i was not reading your thread because i played F2 far and wide with just about every character possible (including some ridiculous self imposed challenges like playing a combat oriented character... without using any weapons).

However i never played BoS so i'd be interested in seeing that.
I don't care about F3 tho.

BoS was interesting, if you enjoy the old turn-based SPECIAL combat it's definitely worth a look-see. Plot silliness aside I found it engaging for a few playthroughs. FO3 was only really good with modding, which means everyone will have their opinion on what mods to use, etc. Probably best left as a solo exercise.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.
