Do it with the Vault Game Show Host, Rob Snarker. Obviously, he should have a high agility and charisma. Possibly INT too. Not too much strength, though.

This. Tag speech and a weapon. Increase your speech to 70 before your weapon of choice gets above 50. Try to talk your way out of every fight.

Hey, you actually sort of won, kind of, maybe a little! I was hoping you'd be able to get something different from the technicians, which I'm still not going to spoil.

Speech is a fun way to play through Fallout. Most ways are fun, actually :)

Tag Speech, Energy Weapons, Outdoorsman (which isn't that good a choice, but hey)

If crazy metagaming's your thing, I recommend Barter.  I forget the exact breakpoints, but at around 100% it becomes possible to trade stuff for more than its own value, e.g. a Stimpack for a Stimpack and some bullets.  Our standard opening when we were kids was always Speech/Barter/Energy Weapons, then rush to the Gunrunners at the Andytum Boneyard.

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

it won't work if he actually plays through the game. Following the story (Vault 15 first) will put him through some hard encouters before he ever even sees an energy weapon.

I would say tag speech, science, and small guns. Get your small guns to 50 and then raise speech and science to at least 70. Then you can work on energy weapons. Once you get your first you have to use it exclusively. If you are out of ammo you have to run away.

Well, i was able to get Small Guns to 200+, with two other skills tagged way before getting the first energy weapon, and then you can easily switch to the later.

Thus it hardly matters, as long as you don't tag something crazy, like unarmed.. and don't get caught..  :)
(without gear, the bunker is nigh impossible)

LP Fallout: Tactics is a hope for me.

After I finish this one and Fallout 2. I have all three games in a bundle, so I just need the support and the willpower to get through the first two games.

Just so you know, everything from Vault 13 to the Hub will be in one or two updates, unless I encounter something new/exciting. The reason being that I basically don't want to type up the same events again. It'll get kinda boring for me. So if you want to add any comments/suggestions, I'd do it now.

EDIT: Also, what do the various kinds of ammo do/are used for? Be nice to know...

Sounds like it doesn't actually matter...but I'm sure I've use Hollow points to better effect against unarmored foes. Might need testing. But theoretically Hollow point is more damage but worse armor penetration and Full Metal Jacket is the opposite.
