Fallout 2: Let's Play Blind(ish)!
« on: September 18, 2011, 04:09:49 pm »

As I have finally laid my hands on a copy of Fallout 1,2 and tactics, I have decided to make a Let's Play out of them. For the record, I've never played the game before, but I've skimmed the manual, so I have a vague idea of how to play the game. Thus some might say that I'd be playing this game blind, but that doesn't apply as I can still see. So really, they are obviously mistaken.

Now some of you might think that it'd probably be a good idea to start in the beginning (probably the same people who though I was playing blind), but you'd be wrong. Instead we'll start before the beginning, at character creation.

Spoiler: Create A Character (click to show/hide)

Having no clue of what skills are good and what skills are completely useless, I'll just leave character creation up to all of you guys, okay? (Please, oh please, for the love of god, don't screw the character over.)

Fallout 1 Updates and Character(s) List:
Character 1: Devlin, the Blind Rent-A-Cop: KIA
Cause of Death: Died in the explosion that took out the supermutant base.
Level: 1,000 some odd EXP from level 5.

Character 2: Rob Snarker, the Game Show Host
Complete and Utter Badass
Level: 15

Fallout 2 Updates and Character(s) List:
Character: Titthal Askak, the Inadvertent Heroine.
Level: 7

One more in Strength, minus one in Perception, plus two in Endurance and Agility, and one in Intelligence.

As for skills, one in Small Guns, First Aid, and, uh, whatever.

Knowing the name, age and sex of our character would be nice too. Personality would help as well.

As for traits we'll definitively be taking Bloody Mess (because you always take Bloody Mess in an LP, right?). Other than that, I have no idea what other traits to take.

No! We don't need bloody mess. I suggest Finesse for better critting.

Name, uh, USEC Officer Devlin? Maybe we can have a by-the-book Cop LP. Male, of course.

No! We don't need bloody mess.

But Bloody Mess sounds awesome! (Besides, can't we take more than one trait?)

Nope! And Bloody Mess just makes you get the animations of gory deaths, no real benefit.

...

Which is exactly why I want to take it. Plus, according to the Fallout Wiki, you can pick up to two traits.

EDIT:

Blam. USEC_OFFICER has created a character with two different traits.

Gifted is the trait that is made of win.
AGI is extremely important in combat, much more so than Endurance. (unless you want a melee character or something..)

Wow, been a good while since I last played/beat this. I'll be watching.

A good character type to have is a quick gunner/thief. At least, that's my Fallout 3 build (as well).

I don't know how you do an honest Let's Play of Fallout, 'cause you're gonna die. I guess count the number of deaths?

Here's a Fun guy to play with. Energy Weapons, Lockpick, Science. ST 4, PE 7, EN 4, CH 6, IN 6, AG 8, LK 5. (Energy weapons have good gory deaths.) Pretty sure that's valid. I forget what good perks that makes you eventually eligible for.

I like to go for Gifted/Skilled. Gifted increases your attributes by one, but screw you over in the skills department. Skilled mostly counterbalances being screwed over in the skills department, at the cost of one extra level between perks from what I recall.
