Marksdwarfs should be enough. Though some war dogs in your pastures could help the slightly more vulnerable farmanimals, if those are your concern. Even war dogs have no problem with buzzards.

except the dog that had five vultures gang up on him and tear him to pieces.  No matter, the rest of the dogs defeated the vultures in detail when they split up.

Okay, that one was unlucky. But one of mine once nabbed a buzzard which was swooping down to harass some less fighty creature (a bunny, I think); the buzzard lost a leg.

I actually kept getting ATTACKED by a Buzzard at the start of a game.

Which was odd, because the game took place in a Serene environment.  Yet it was the only one where I was ever attacked by wildlife right at the start.

Yeah...serene is not serene, it is a place of intense goodness, which just like a place of intense evil, naturally causes trouble. Only instead of werewolves harpies or zombies it unicorns, fluffy wamblers and giant badgers.
