Used to live a breathe a flight sim called Aces High, damn near ruined my education but with the hours I racked up there (around 15k over 6 years) I probably could fly a plane.

15K?!?!  My god, that is huge.  I'd trust you to fly me in a plane.  :D

Football Manager, the only game I actively avoid playing just because it's too addictive. Buy players, see how new players are working out. If I win, I get excited and want to watch more matches.. if I lose, I get pissed and look for better players and tactics and then try to test out 'a few' matches with the new tactics.

I find a lot of MMOs addictive too, because I like politics and working with people, and MMOs are designed to be an endurance race. But most are not actually fun, just time sinks. Once I tell myself "I'm not enjoying this", it's easy to quit.

Total War games... massive time sinks because micromanagement is actually fun and cinematic. Civ is designed to be slow and addictive, but like with MMOs, easy to get off, I don't feel like going back through that grind.

The only thing that broke me free of that was when my TrackIR died and I couldn't afford to replace it and simply couldn't enjoy the game without it anymore. But now I can. And there's a sequel out as well. Oh joy. :P
