The avoir is necessary - the perfective past tense in French translates generally as "I have studied" or "I have been" or the like.

You drain the entire bottle of whiskey in one go, then slam it against the head of the Order Inquisitor (16+2+Irish vs. 5+5+3); the well-made glass doesn't shatter as it clips his jaw. You then grab him (11+1+Irish vs. 5+3), lift him, and throw him violently with one hand. You send him flying backwards with unnatural Irish strength, and something structurally important in his body fails with a sickening crunch as he crashes into the wall.

Bulk Vanderhuge grins at your success and casts another Shatter on the same Order Initiate (20+6 vs. 15+2), who (16) forces himself up again. Order Initiate's first life bar, Order, is depleted.

The second Initiate attempts to defend his ally while they recover! (+5 to both Initiates' defense rolls next turn)
