I can't find the long sword cost. I'm debating picking one up, so can anyone enlighten me?

I'm looking at the raws, but none of the weapons seem to have a value listed. Does anybody know how to retrieve the value?

Um, mate, the Long Sword is a Foreign weapon, so its not included on that page...

EDIT:: By opening my Human Mode DF I found the Longsword and located its copper level, it costs 60☼ at Copper so I believe that it costs 30☼ as its base level.

I was browsing through the wiki looking for info and found this potential fatal flaw: dwarfs use long swords as two handed weapons normally and if used single handed they suffer a penalty. Guess I'll be sticking with short swords anyway. :-/ in the next tourney I'll go withshortsword as well.

Edit: I'll have a list of purchases up tomorrow when I have access to a real computer...

I've had to relax the rule on one fight per day for this day only. This is because of a rematch going on, plus a need to eliminate some of the tournament entrants to get it to a power of two so the format can work correctly. To avoid having to do this in the future, I'm probably going to have to limit the number of entrants in each knockout-style tournament to eight.

Rematch:

Spoiler: 'Victor' title fight (Flint, Ibid, Dastot) (click to show/hide)

The dwarf and the elf charged towards each other. They collided, and the  dwarf was knocked over. The elf slashed, severing a hand and spilling the dwarf's guts. Ibid then stabbed flint from behind, fracturing the foot bone and sending him to join Dastot on the floor. A second blow from ibid severed the arm at the elbow, the elf giving into pain and Ibid decapiting the prone body.

Turning his attention to the dwarf, Ibid stabbed at the dwarf, but Dastot managed to block each blow until blood loss claimed him.

Single fights:

The human and the jaguar slashed at each other, with axe and claw. The cuts were deep, and the blood splattered on the arena floor. It was the human that emerged victorious, though, as the jaguar gave into pain and was killed.

Spoiler: Spruce VS gorilla (click to show/hide)

The gorilla charged at the elf and knocked it over, the elf scrambling to its feet to avoid further blows. This repeated many times, until it managed to close its jaws on Spruce's arm, savaging it deeply. Spruce tried to break the grip, or land blows on the beast, but could do nothing as he bled to death.

Fekod and Urist Ufanaman will have to fight an extra knockout fight between them so we have a power of two.

The two dwarves circled each other, many blows being swung but all landing in thin air. Eventually they charged at each other and both tangled together and fell over, and Urist stabbed Fekod in the arm, forcing the shield out of his hand. Suffering from his injury, Fekod's ability to defend himself was significantly reduced, as a slash to the other hand forced him to drop the mace. Now weaponless, Fekod had no chance of victory.

Tersr landed the first blow of the match, his sword stabbing deep into Sodel's leg. Charging at each the other dwarf. Tersr knocked sodel to the ground and killed him with a stab to the head.

Spoiler: Ibid VS Leon (click to show/hide)

Leon charged at Ibid, knocking him to the floor. The spear lodged deep, but Ibid landed a blow to the head, tearing apar the spine's nervous system and paralysing Leon. Unable to move, he was quickly executed.

Laurenski landed many mace blows, leaving deep bruises on the elf. However, a stab to her leg shattered the bone, forcing her to the ground. Now with the advantage of height, Flint slashed many times, severing limbs, until a blow to the head tore apart the brain.

Spoiler: Dastot VS Urist (click to show/hide)

Dastot and his axe proved to be the stronger combatants. While Urist was barely able to land a blow, Dastot's axe landed many time in the torso, spilling guts and tearing apart a lung. A final blow to the head tore apart the brain, killing him.

Recently, there was a change of rules concerning how a gladiator acquires pets. I felt that it was too easy for a character to buy a very dangerous animal which would put them far more dangerous than others of a similar wealth. The new rules require a gladiator to spend a day fighting the new animal before it can be purchased. Those who purchased an animal before the change in rules did not have to do that, which is why I have removed the animals that were bought before the change in rules and refunded the owners the cost.

Come to think of it, are you sure you want a wooden training sword? You can buy a wooden short sword for only 14 urists, which is a lot more effective. Training swords tend to be used as clubs by arena combatants.

I changed it, did not know about wooden short swords, also I think I corrected a math error, to advance to 4 from 3 would take 40 right?
