Unarmed stuff tends to be surprisingly effective against unarmoured opponents. Problem is, the other gladiators have armour, which punches had a very hard time getting through.

Yeah. One on one, player controlled, I'd stand a pretty good chance against some people.
Remove weapon, maybe stab them with it, remove armor, beat them to bloody pulp.

It's split between the top 4 teams.

The 1st place team members each get 20%, the 2nd place team members each get 15%, the 3rd place team members each get 10%, the 4th place team members each get 5%.

Three against one, the mighty bull did not stand much of a chance. Set upon from all sides, it was bitten clawed and stabbed simultaneously. The blows landed deep, ears being severed and lungs being punctured, until it eventually gave into pain and fell unconscious, and was soon finished off.

The human and the jaguar charged at each other, but they would rush by, their swiped finding nothing but thin air. Eventaully, Matthias started to find the upper hand, the wooden axe landing a few blows as the two combatants attacked each other. Charging at the beast, Matthias would knock it over, sending it to its feet and using the height advantage to full force. Eventaully, matthias found it favorable to supplement his axe with his free other hand, and a few lucky scratches managed to open arteries in the beast. From that point, it was a matter of fending off its attacks before it died of blood loss.

The jaguar pounced on the cavy, knocking it over, but the dwarf's fists prevented it from attacking further. The dwarf knocked the animal to the ground and started to pummel it, soon jamming the skull through the brain and killing it.

The ice wolf died first. Set upon by all of its enemies, a nasty slash tore apart its heart and it soon died of blood loss.

The helmet snake was next. Sodel and Fekod both set upon it, and it was torn to pieces before it could land a blow.

Next was Sodel. A blow to the helmet snake left his sword lodged in the wound, and he could not defend himself when beset with a harpy, followed by Dastot and Ibid. The three of them tore into him, until a blow from Dastot forced the skull through the brain.

Finally was Fekod. After landing the killing blow on the helmet snake, he fought with a harpy until he was attacked by the other combatants, With a hand and a foot severed, he was soon killed.

Flint was the first to fall. Dakosh's hammer fractured the foot, forcing him to the floor. There, a second blow landed on the chest and sent the elc unconscious, and a third blow to the head killed him.

The dog died next. Tersr's sword cut into him, tearing apart a lung and severing a paw, until blood loss claimed it.

Laurenski attacked Tersr from behind, but Tersr's counterattack landed on the leg, fracturing the bone and loding in the wound. Wrenching it out, Tersr then jammed his sword in Laurkenski's lower body, spilling her guts. Laurenski charged at Tersr, and the two tangled together and fell over as she gave into pain, and Dakosh dealt the killing blow.

Hm. I think you missed my last post. Sodel should have purchased Swordsdwarf 3 and Dodger 2 and sold his training sword prior to that fight. Oh well. We'll go ahead and do that this time and save the remainder.

I believe that what I detect is a typo- you have team 6 listed as fighting team 4, and seem to have left out team 8.  Also, I don't think my/our winnings were updated.

No worries, though.

So, I perceive what I see as a bit of a problem in the near future...

The objective of the game is to become Arena Champion, which is accomplished by defeating all of the Arena Lords. In order to become Arena Champion, one needs to upgrade skills, gear, and pets, which is a matter of Urists. It seems to me that the best way to earn Urists is through single matches, which at this point of the game appear easier and more efficient than participating in the tournaments...

Thus, at the rate we are going, I see the more developed players dropping out of the tournaments and just farming bulls in a race to the top, rather than pitting themselves in direct competition with other players (which is, in my opinion, much more challenging, interesting and exciting), and those who do opt for the competition inevitably falling behind the "power gamers."


I'll play either way, but I felt I should give that observation.

I had seen that too.

I also see how if players get ahead, those that are behind have very little hope of ever catching up too. I get the idea of rewarding those that play well (and get a bit of early luck ) but maybe you could add an incentive or hope for those behind by keeping tournaments the way they are, but reinstating how you have to win one (possibly getting second too) to challenge an arena lord. This would allow players that are behind to skip a tournament to try and catch up whilst those ahead try to advance. (idea being prestige and being noticed will allow you to face the arena lords)

Just a thought anyways.
