Man, that just gives me a craving for kielbasa. You can't get it where I live now; they're all a bunch of Scandinavians out here, eating hotdish and corn or whatever. Such a shame.

I pan fried some lake trout today. It had salt and pepper on it. It was good.

Fried rice.

It was edible.

Edible is... good, right? Better than some of the alternatives?

It made me sick, but I'm not dead yet!

I tried to make a mint mocha today with tea instead of coffee because I was out of it, and I've gotta get my caffeine somewhere. Not ideal, but it's surprisingly acceptable.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I made chili con frijoles with between four and six types of bean, depending on your definition of bean. Put seven cans of food into a pot, two onions and a cup of frozen peas, plus spices, fed me for two days with a pot of rice.

Chili and... rice? By the gods! I must try this. Why did this never occur to me before.

Put it in a bowl and eat it. Often with cheese, and sometimes, sour cream! Oh, what a day that was.

Hurm. It's always been a rice thing for me; though I suppose I never knew burritos could have rice until a couple of months ago.

I've never thought of chili with rice either, but I eat similar things with rice. Odd... Red beans and rice, Gumbo and rice. But I've never tried chili and rice.

My family has roots from across Europe, came down from New York to live in South Carolina, and we cook a lot, so I get to see a lot of different dishes with a lot of different influences. Thanks to the gross abundance of Chinese, Japanese and Thai restaurants in the area as well as my interest in far eastern culture, we've also been starting to incorporate some far eastern cuisine.

We're getting the supplies together to make some General Tso's Chicken. I'll tell everyone how it went after we make it.
