I made spaghetti with blue cheese. Basically the same as alfredo, except with blue cheese instead of parmesan. And a little bit of garlic.

!

I am stealing this idea.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Refried beans, with macaroni and cheese powder. Pretty tasty!

Brownies. Nomming on them right now.  :D

Yeah it was mix, but for a dorm with no kitchen that was a minor miracle in and of itself...

I threw some things together and made a bread pudding / oatmeal type thing out of gram crackers, condensed milk, some baby carrots, water, and the syrup from a can of sugarcane.  It was pretty good.

Just put butter, cheese and milk in a pot and melt it / reduce it a bit until it's homogeneous and slightly thick (thicker than milk, that is), then pour pasta. Easy peasy!

If you start with just butter and a little bit of flour, cook that up in the pan and stir it around, then add everything else.....you can actually turn that into a proper ghetto alfredo sauce.

Blasphemy! True alfredo does not contain flour. No, I don't know how it works either, but it does. I choose to believe it is divine intervention.

Yeah, but who has the time to blend Parmesan into it slowly for 20 minutes and baby sit it so it doesn't break? Making it from a roux is so much faster.

I did err when I called it 'proper' though, you're right.

My method is usually to accept a slightly grainy sauce. 10 minutes, tops. Though you're completely right on everything that matters in that post so I don't see why I'm even continuing this conversation.

Eh, I don't know what you guys are talking about, I just melt the butter, add the milk, grated cheese (if parmesan... blue cheese just needs crumbling and it melts really fast) and stir for about 2 minutes then add the cooked pasta. I even do it in the same pot once I poured the noodles in the plastic-water-drainy thingy.

I think the proper Alfredo is supposed to be just a mix of the butter and cheese (no milk) at room temperature then mixed with a bit of the water from cooking the noodles, but I can't be arsed doing that.

Macaroni and cheese and sauerkraut. Not the best thing I've ever done, but far from the worst.

Apparently some chili I made (with some crappy fake meat stuff for vegetarians) is really good, according to my mother.

All I did different from normal is not add garlic. I usually put it in everything.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I made el cheapo ramen uber tasty by throwing in my own spices in stead of just using the regular pack that comes with it. Basically, chili pepper flakes, garlic powder, pepper, and the seasoning pack. My nose is running and my eyes are streaming. I think I might have put too many flakes in here, but for the better.

Toss some kielbasa in there, and you've got a right proper meal.
