An awesome, insane, terrifying idea
« on: September 16, 2011, 03:09:31 pm »

I was thinking about some of the stated goals for long term df development, specifically the ability to disguise oneself.  Then I began thinking about disguising oneself as something and actually taking on the properties of that thing.

Say I kill a priest (all hail satin, and no, I am not misspelling satan).  Then I use necromancy to bind his soul to a mask.  When I put on that mask I want my character to become that dead priest (or anything else I kill).  Whether this is permanent or not I haven't decided, though I think it should be to make turning into say, a dragon, a much more serious (and likely, desperate) action.

During Calc I wrote down a lot of ideas about this so here they are:

pt 1: how I think it might work http://bayimg.com/cakNlAAdb
pt 2: consequences of (ab)using this http://bayimg.com/DaKnGAaDB
pt 3: potentially ‼fun‼ suggestions http://bayimg.com/DAknkAaDB

Thoughts? Suggestions? Hippopotamus?

You want one of the suggestion subforums for this idea to get proper attention and feedback.

I figured I'd put it here for general discussion then post in suggestions once the idea was a little more coherent, but I may do that tomorrow.

Or if you find someone that is wounded you can play the song of healing and make them into a mask that is used to defeat a megabeast. On a side note.. cool idea.

ay I end a hoodooism (all greet satin, and no, I am not misspelling beelzebub).  Then I use necromancy to bind his soul to a cover.  When I put on that cover I deprivation my persona to become that executed hoodooism (or anything added I end).  Whether this is everlasting or not I harbor't definite, tho' I anticipate it should be to alter movement into say, a dragon, a such statesman solemn (and possible, desperate) mechanism.

And here I thought it was somewhat confusing enough to begin with.

As a side note related to the links in the OP, your mental attributes are attached to -your soul-. I don't think transforming into things should alter them. At least, not in any direction but down (Suddenly being something else probably isn't good for your mind).

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.
