They raped noserubbed you to death?
Actually we managed to think up enough shenanigans (including things such as leveling up mid-fight and our mage making more potions during the absurdly long choke-point combat) that we convinced the DM to let us decide whether we would (barely) win or not based off a 50% roll (as opposed to rolling out all those rounds), which we won.

Y'know, everytime I see "adorable kobolds" I immediately want to kill them, Happy Tree Friends-style.

I tend to create worlds with 10-12 goblin forts (I modded them to live in castles, yeah, FUN to storm these) and 4-5 kobold caves, each with 200 residents. I don't embark over them, though. My adventurers are the happiest adventurers in the world (while they live that is).
I recently found out that in ADnD, the table for "random number of kobolds encountered" ranges from 2 to 400. And our level 1 party happened to find a room containing 280 of them.

Did it go badly?

I'd be more than happy to give you the world seed, but I don't know how to find that information out.

I had to reclaim due to most of my dwarves dying of thirst. So far so good, though. The kobolds are still friendly.

I'd like to see if my dwarves can make friends with kobolds. Kobolds have [Can Speak] in my world, so it might be possible...

Unfortunately different species won't interact with one another and so won't make friends. Might I suggest downloading Runesmith and using it to turn their IS_RESIDENT flag off and make them members of the same civ as your dwarves, making them pets, and then pasturing them in their own fortress section to live peacefully? I'd also suggest using DFusion's friendship utility, but I can't figure out how it works either!

And DFHack just because it has some useful tools...

Wow, it appears I have some kind of bug, because all my dwarves won't drink anything and are dying of thirst.

Interesting, I sent my military to fight a kobold thief that was hanging around on my map and this had no effect on the local kobolds.

Send us all the save! I want to embark with friendly Kobolds, hack around with Runesmith to stop their residency, and change their civ to mine. Then I could conscript them all into my militia.

I also could make them into my work-force (technically slavery, which dwarves think is illegal), and I could make them build houses, plant and harvest crops, or make them mine and smelt ores.

With the Kobolds being in my civ, I could even have a Kobold mayor! Now THAT would be cool.

Unfortunately, that'd also mean more food and drink to supply them with. That could get problematic. OR the game could crash and burn.

Thinking of Kobolds, I noticed someone posted a kobold story on the Community Games & Stories forum..

Speaking of, can you get back to Rocktouched? You haven't posted about it in a long time.

On topic: I'll see how this will work for me once I get the save.

Nah Urist, Sorry man but the bit of writing I did for RockTouched was just a bit of a creative writing spree I had, and its not really there anymore. I normally hate creative writing, that was just.. a 'thing' that came over me.  XD  I'm going to be posting the save on the thread soon so you (or anyone else) can take it over and continue it if they wish.

A possession, I agree.

I posted the Rock Touched stuff I wrote on a writer's site that a friend of mine frequents during a "Flash Fiction Friday" thing, but alas, no votes.. no real comments.  XD

Anyways.. back to the thread.. you should try and capture a few kobolds and pit random creatures against them in an arena, to the Kobolds' favor, and make them legendary knife users.  THEN let them loose in your fort, as a sort of gauntlet, see how many Dwarves get ripped apart during the event.

I vote you use Kittens to train them up.
