A wild Dragon Appears! And now what?
« on: September 14, 2011, 02:00:23 pm »

So.... I've shamelessly savescummed enough times to capture that damned beast.......

But now what? I'm going to build her a massive lair, no doubt about it...

But do I tame her?

Suggestions and input welcome!

(Yes, I've replaced the exotic tag..)

Tame her, train her and chain her to your forts entrance.

Psst.... That's dull....

She needs a lair!

Do tame creatures with BUILDINGDESTROYER:2 still destroy buildings?

Where it will probably die a pathetic death, as Dragons take 1000 years to reach full mature adult size, and chances are yours is a younglin not much larger than a cow.

Quick! Use Ice Beam!

Anyway, you could always keep her caged until you find a male dragon, and set yourself up an army of war dragons.

That didn't last long, huh? Shame, cause binary's cool. Anyway, an important message: I will be changing my names on every username based thing I use to ASCIt on/around 10/1. Consolidating, I guess you could say.

Pessimistic naysayer!

After a quick trip to the Legends, Thasa Ciquarararano Iculethari (Tasa Ivorywealths the Torrid Furnace) has been around from year one, assuming the statement that Megabeasts are considered to be born at -300 to -150 years prior to creation, she is somewhere between 564 and 714 years old.

Meaning that she is at least larger than a full grown Hydra, and possibly a bit smaller than a Bronze Collosus...

She's killed 64 notable creatures, and 17 animals... Most of the creatures seem to be elves....

I'm starting to like this one!

I'm starting to think that I'll make a tame and trained war dragon out of her, and build a massive cavern for her with statues and gold paved floors... then I'll feed her with goblin prisoners and captured animals....

More than gold paved floors, my friend: gold coins, masterwork gold objects, masterwork and artifact cut gems...

You should also be sure that it's multiple Z-levels so she has flying room. In fact, dig out the entire first cavern layer, wall off the outside, and re-make all of it in gold.

All of it.

Digging out a multiple Z level cave right next to the dining room.... Most of it will be natural rock, but I'm adding a lair at the top level... Where I intend to put gold crafts, and other masterworks... Including all unused artifacts =)

Mod the scales to be candy. use it to run the furnaces.

and by that I mean have it in such a place where you can drop constant kittens to make it Breathe fire around vats of magma to "keep them warm"

Hollow out a large, rough chamber for her. Store some food, corpses, low-grade arms and armour and a huuuuuuge hoard of gold, silver, electrum, platinum, and whateverthehellyouhaveium coins, furniture, crafts, goblets, etc. Also some glass items (well posh), and lots of gems. And no sissy little grey chalcedonies, but full-blown rubies.

If you can manage it, tie up some virgins near the dragon. And pasture some meaty animal together with the dragon on a tiny pasture. A cow per season or something. :P

Awesomest ofcourse would be to make it a War Dragon.

mix the raws for a hydra with it so you have a 12 headed dragon.

Heh.... war dragon is a good idea in theory.....

Dragonbreath however seems to disagree, and is not the thing you want to apply if you're trying to reduce the impact of friendly fire =)

Facemelting ensued.... literally!

However, it does appear that fighting alongside a firebreathing dragon will increase your shield skill..... Dragonbreath also makes the cleanup from attacks a lot easier.....

Is there a way remove a designated war animal from a soldier?

No, but you can pasture pets and assigned war animals, so you can stuff the dragon in a room if needed.
