This is mostly because dungeons and dragons tends to have its magic geared towards its gameplay. Thus magic is 99% combat or out of combat immediate utility spells that would help during a dungeon.

Hence why MUCH earlier in another thread I asked: "Why do non combatant wizards learn combat spells? Why is it that everyone needs to learn a fireball?"

I mean... no spell that enriches soil? No spell that makes produce bigger in harvest? No spell that makes carts run smoother? No spell that cures queezyness? No minor disease curing spell that only works against common colds?

Hardcore DnD roleplayers frown upon any attempts to industrialize their pseudo-faux medieval setting - look up the Tippyverse, for example.

I actually like fiction with industrial revolutions in high-magic worlds.

And I don't mean segregated, "they're in a magic wasteland so they HAD to make-do with clockwork" bullshit, I mean like using Lightning Fingers to power a city block, or using ore-finding magic to get uranium. That kind of thing.

It's why I want to watch Legend of Korra~!
