Yeah. There's nothing like the DM screaming, "HOW DID YOU NOT DIE?!"

...followed by an awkward, piercing silence, as the players realize that 1) Their game's all-powerful being wants them dead, and 2) They just outwitted him. Obviously, they've played too many rogue likes.

"Crap! Ron! Respec as a cleric! This party is unbalanced!"

Poor DM... Doesn't he know that in this situation he should genre shift the entire campaign and take it away from dungeon crawling?

Though given that one of the reasons Dungeons and Dragons is so popular is because it spells everything out for you and requires little effort to run it halfheartedly... I am guessing the DM didn't start running this because he/she is creative.

Also Respecing in Dungeons and dragons is OVERWHELMINGLY prohibitive. NPCs can do it easily, any lvl 20 commoner for example often used to be a level 20 paladin, but PCs have to give up tons of gold and exp to do so. Ron CANNOT afford a respec at level 1... He wouldn't even be able to afford to change his starting feat or even a single dot of skill.

Which is why in my circles, "Respec" means "Kill yourself and roll a new character"

Which is one of the few jokes in Munchkin I find truely hillarious.

Hmm oddly enough this reminded me of possibly the creepiest thing in the Harry Potterverse. At least in the first part.

Anyone else Creeped out about the Chocolate Frogs? When I first heard of them I imagined what would just be like computer programmed robotic frogs made of chocolate and magic. When I saw them in the movie however... they were actual frogs... made of chocolate... who actively attempt not to get eaten.

You wizards are SICK! This is like those live octopus dishes all over again.

Also Lovechild if you don't want me POSSIBLY (I hope not, I don't expect this conversation to go very far) derail the thread please say so.

Actually, I couldn't agree more. And not just this, the whole wizard society is rotten to the core, scornful and completely self-centered in it's morals. I hope the Voldemort of this universe is just some cool dude who wants to make the wizard culture to actually be something resembling good and just.
