I smile warmly at Lilac.

'That's a good filly.  Don't worry, we can both get him out of here.'

My horn flashes as the rope unties and lays at my hooves.

'So, Apple.  The young filly would like you to leave.'

[The Master]

'Whoa there, I might have a better plan!' Says Lilac in Apple's voice, 'I want Khenal to leave and Apple to control my every action!'

[Khenal]

'Lilac, I can help you to oust him, but I need your help.  If I simply rip him out, it would be very bad.  Can you gather him to one place?  You are stronger than he is, Lilac.  Remind him that you are in charge.'

[The Master]

Suddenly, Khenal feels sick to the bone. "Lilac" explodes into a large, demonic-looking, Hydra.((This is all happening inside Lilac's mind. Just needed to point this out to new readers.))

'Whoa there, I might have a better plan!' Says Lilac in Apple's voice, 'I want Khenal to leave and Apple to control my every action!'

((Apple? Could someone remind me who this is? I don't recall an Apple. I had thought this was Psycho Carrot, bound into Lilac, but now I'm confused. Could someone please refresh my memory?))

((Indeed, but Khenal called him Apple first and so I assumed we've seen him before. We probably have, but, I just do not remember him. Which is why I asked.))

((He's new.  He's also from Khenal's past, which is why Khenal knows him.  I would have called him Wormtongue, but Apple has some interesting origins that The Master liked ))

I stand and take a defensive stance.  The hydra is the obvious danger, but Apple is trickier than to commit everything to a frontal assault.  I keep an eye out for anything out of place, hoping to find his hidey-hole.

Khenal spots a rainbow colored carrot on a table.

[Khenal]

Avoiding the hydra's attacks, I make my way to the table and carrot.  I summon Carrot's Loyalty and smile before plunging it into the carrot.

[The Master]

The carrot explodes into a cloud of fire, slightly burning Khenal. The flames take shape, forming a silhouette that resembles Psycho Carrot. It's clear that Khenal needs to find another object to fully release him.

'NO, KHENAL, THIS IS THE PART WHERE YOU FALL DOWN AND BLEED TO DEATH!'

"NO, KHENAL, THIS IS THE PART WHERE YOU FALL DOWN AND BLEED TO DEATH!"

[Khenal]

'Lilac, you must maintain control!  Don't let him take it from you!  Carrot, can you hear me?  Your daughter needs your help!'

As I prepare to flee the table, I decide to stick close on a hunch.  I dive under it and examine as well as I can with a hydra breathing down my neck.

Khenal sees an axe-shaped indent in the ground under the table.
