"YOU, SIR, ARE BRILLIANT!"
I hurl Starkey out of the flames and rush over to Khenal and drag him out.
"Khenal...I...I don't think she really had a mind to begin with. maybe...Maybe that's what the daemon gave her. A mind. A soul. Something to talk to. Without it...she's a shell. Khenal, we need to get her to the hospital. I'm sure somepony could help her."

[Khenal]

I numbly carry Friesden, following Carrot to the hospital.

[Dsarker]

Ah....relief.

[The Master]

"Khenal, thanks! A MILLION TIMES, THANK YOU! Now, I have a question, how did you get to know friesden, was she always trying to kill herself?"

[Khenal]

My eyes never stray from Friesden as I talk to Carrot.

"No, she never tried to hurt herself until... until after her arrest.  She rarely talked to other ponies, but was always so kind and caring for any pony who got hurt."

[The Master]

"Really? Oh, did I tell you that i'm a lieutenant now?!"

[KingStrongbeard]

"Really? Oh, did I tell you that i'm a lieutenant now?!"

Is Psycho psychic? Has it not been only a few minutes, maybe a few hours, since all that went down? Charity only just wrote in her journal that she was going to promote Carrot. How does he already know?

[The Master]

"Khenal... we don't... have much more time... put me in Friesden's head!"

Starkey locks eyes with Carrot.

"Quit... quit your blathering... lieutenant. Nopony else... dies tonight."

from the other end of the deck, the ship's bell can be heard tolling.

"Oh, sorry to cut our little chat short, but it sounds like I'm needed elsewhere."

Amidships, there is a small dhingy suspended over the portside. The captain climbs in alone.

"Enjoy yourself. I'll be in touch."

He gives the rope a hard tug, and the dhingy descends rapidly out of sight.

Starkey awakes. The first thing he is aware of is the seargent - no, the lieutenant shaking him awake. The second thing he is aware of is that the flames have heated his steel barding to an unbearable level.

"Uh... wha? CarroAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH!!"

[Khenal]

"That's nice."

[KingStrongbeard]

Oh, I see. Starkey is the psychic one. Well that makes more sense.

[Dsarker]

Out of her mouth comes a tuneless song.

"Death. Death. Death. Death."

[The Master]

Noticing that khenal's mind is elsewhere, I say, "She'll be ok! I promise!"
I then hear the song.
"K-K-KHENAL?"

[The Master]

Oh, I see. Starkey is the psychic one. Well that makes more sense.

((wrong again.))

Starkey staggers behind them. He reaches back and unclasps his breastplate, and it clatters to the floor. This buys him maybe another minute or so.

"I-I ca... can you link us? Can... you... put me in her head?"

"...I hope you know what you're doing, Starkey!  And Friesden, I'm sorry if this actually works"

My horn flashes, establishing a bridge between Starkey and Friesden/Schmoe.

[Khenal]

Tears flow freely down my face as I continue towards the hospital.

Starkey isn't psychic either. Charity promoted him to captain in her diary, Starkey gave him a field promotion for actually doing things when the rest of his militia stood helpless.

At least, that's what I got out of it.
