I guard Charity unconscious body, ready to fight off anyone that tries to hurt her.

The touching moment is cut short, as Cryptson looks up to find the hallway in front of him blocked by a wall of shields and blades, with dozens of pairs of eyes staring out from behind them. The voice of the captain calls out.

"Yield. We have you surrounded."

(I don't think so, the only named ponies in the military are Starkey, Carrot, and Peytrel. And the others if they believed that Charity ordered the execution of Bokbon then they would probably follow Starkey. The guard might try to protect her but you already rounded most of them up.)

Knowing that I am likely going to be killed, I yell

"Ponies, listen to me! You've been tricked! The three soldiers I fought off were trying to nab Charity! Charity would never want to execute those innocent ponies! I am protecting her! She and I are not the enemy here! Captain Starkey is! Only Starkey would have the authority to form such an elaborate coup! Only Starkey could've killed them! He's lying when he says he misses those ponies! If you want to arrest me, FORGET IT! If you want to kill me, TRY! If you want to help me, PLEASE DO! THE CHOICE IS YOURS! I WILL NOT GO DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT! GOT THAT?!"

Meanwhile, in Khenal's head....


The trapped daemon has given up his resistance, at least for the moment.

She drags out a pack of what would appear to be popcorn, but which are clearly other memories.

"Mmmm!" he says in a delighted voice. "I can't wait to see how many blows it takes them to kill her. It's going to be just delicious!"

Cryptson stands, and says, "You don't stand alone Sargent." and picks up his pick, staring down the entire militia.

'Hmph, I thought I might have missed a fragment of you.'

I snatch the memories from Schmoe

Several chains appear to further bind the demon, or at least this fragment of it.

The shield wall parts, allowing a familiar pegasus in full barding to step into view.

"Lay down that weapon, seargent. I'm not here to fight you."

He turns his gaze to Cryptson.

"Any of you."

bewildered by the sudden turn of events, Psycho only tightens the grip on the axe, ready to swing if necessary.

"Why did you have your lackey Otik break into our room, and try to take her away, commander? (the title passes over his tongue like a curse)" asks Cryptson with distrust and anger in his voice.

[Dsarker]

The memories do not belong to Khenal, but to the daemon.

"Oh, you! You're almost as fun as Friesden!" she says, laughing. "She tried to keep me locked up, too. But it turned her. She started off your typical Ingest worshipper...but soon she was mine. My playtoy. But she got boring, in the end. No matter how many times she tried to remember the symbols that unicorn friend of yours taught her, she never could. But the bitch couldn't force me out, either. I had to try and get out any way I could. It was a tomb. Not forever, of course, but for her lifetime. And the memories I would accrue. No, it was you who helped me that day, Khenal." He laughs again. "I'm now more free than ever, and free to remind you of your failures. Do try the popcorn, by the way. I don't doubt you'd love to see that unicorn again."

"Is that not what one does with criminals, Mr. Cryptson? I'm sure by now, news of your wife's deeds has reached even your ears."

Sensing an opportunity, I swing the axe at Starkey, aiming for Starkey's head. The world appears to slow down for Starkey, He-

The chains continue thier work in strengthening the binding of the demon, moving now to muzzle the fiend.

'I will see to it you never harm another pony ever, even if I have to seal myself in an adamantine coffin and be cast into the magma sea!'
