Friesden lies mute in her cell.

*I turn back and tell Khenal that Friesden isn't saying anything.*

"Is she doing anything?  Staring at the wall?  Into space?  Pacing?  Anything?"

[Impending Doom]

Enter Starkey, Otik, and the two marksponies, each escorting a single guard. Lacking cell space, they are all bound and left in the hallway. Starkey appears to have calmed down considerably: none of the other guards have been beaten. He instructs Dr. Bubbles to keep an eye on them.

Otik and her squad turn to leave. She turns back to Starkey.

"Cap'n, one las' time... are ye absolutely certain?"

"Yes, lieutenant, I'm certain. Bring her here."

"Aye sir."

They leave.

"Alright doctor, what's happened? Has it taken him? Is he winning?"

[Khenal]

'Ok, calm down.  She's not dead, Dr. Bubbles knows the difference between a dead pony and a quiet pony.'

"Commander Starkey!  How goes the search for the rest of the guard?"

[Impending Doom]

"I have four of them here. How many more do you have?"

[The Master]

((You know, Carrot's been in tied to a weapon rack in the barracks for at least two days. He'll starve to death fairly soon.))

((Two days real time. It's only been an hour or so IC. But if you insist...))

Carrot notices a bronze axe on the weapon rack next to his. If he stretches, he might be able to reach it.

((Carrot has a short temper, just saying )
I stretch and grab the axe with my teeth and use it to slice the ropes. I then dash to the cell block, ready to speak a few choice words to the lieutenant.

[Khenal]

"There should be three more.  Have they been cooperative?"

I honestly have no idea how many are in the guard, though I've been running on the assumption that it's a full ten, including Khenal.  Unless King Strongbeard posts otherwise, lets roll with ten.

(To answer this question, out of character, the Fortress Guard has 8 memebers total, including Captain Khenal. Also, the melee squad has 9 (it was ten) and the pegasan markspony squad has 8. It did have more before the last ambush.)

Edit: Just noticed, some bad news for Thundersplinter. Our Bonesetter and suturer, doctor Alen, is one of the prisoners. Doctor Bubbles will have to fix Thunder up with his zero skill bone setting instead. Ouch.
