Otik hesitates. A little filly who had just lost her whole family? Of course, she wouldn't hesitate to take her in. But Friesden? She's a grown mare, that's a different matter entirely.

Isn't it?

She remembers her story. The cruelty of her father. The indifference of her mother. Nopony deserves that kind of life, least of all this mare. If she could give Friesden the family she deserved, why shouldn't she?

I wince at Bubbles' volume.

I tilt my head, puzzled at Bubbles' sudden exit.  After a few moments, I realize how insane I must have sounded to anypony who didn't know my plan.  I facehoof at my stupidity and try to think of a rational way to explain what's happening.
