((I think it's because he's always laid up in the hospital :P  As for right now: he's convinced that Friesden is a thrall, that all the love she's shown him is just because she's so open to suggestion with her weak mental defenses.  How would you feel if you thought that not only did your love not actually love you, but that you were forcing them to love you because they don't know any better?))
