I continue to weep, my worst fears seeming to have come true.

[Telgin]

((Yes, assuming this logic survives scrutiny.    I have a less bullet proof backup plan if necessary.))

"Kris... she's the reason."  She pauses for a moment.  "I'm a single mother... if I didn't provide for her, there is nopony else."  She continues to stare into the desk instead of Charity's eyes.  "I... I'm not sure what I was going to do..."

Kris sits next to her, concern in her eyes.  "What?  Why?"

[Dsarker]

"Hush, Khenal. It'll be okay! It'll all turn right in the end."

[KingStrongbeard]

Charity grimly states, "Well, now that I know all this I can't let you stay in the guard."

Charity pauses for dramatic effect.

"Either you take the job I'm offering, with a pay raise, until such a time as your illness makes you unable to work, OR you can retire and I'll make sure you get a pension that can support you and your daughter. Your choice."

[The Master]

"BECAUSE I SAW MY DAD, IN FLESH AND BLOOD, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME, TALKING TO KHENAL AND THE OTHER GROWNUPS!!"

[Telgin]

Falcata's ears droop as she hears the duchess' first statement.  She prepares to accept termination of her position in the guard when Charity finishes.  Her expression shifts from confusion to elation.

"I-I can still work.  I want to serve as long as I can." She forms a genuine smile.  "Th-thank you, my lady... I accept the position."  Her expression turns sheepish.  "And... forgive me, my lady... I didn't mean to burden you with my troubles..."

"But... I... I don't understand.  Where?"

[Dsarker]

"Please, Khenal, don't cry for me. We'll get through this. I'm not good at this whole comforting thing...but with you here, we can get through anything."

[KingStrongbeard]

"It is no trouble. I'm going to be trusting you with a lot of things, and the fact that you're willing to come forward about your own problems just makes me more sure that you're right for this job."

"Thank you, my lady.  I won't let you down."

((Seems like a reasonable place to cut it off.  I assume that we're going to sort of massage the timeline so that your last journal update occurs prior to this, since Falcata was still in the guard at the time?))

((Massage, hit it with a hammer until it stops complaining, something like that. Although I had forgotten that the siege was planed for later and already mentioned Osal's latest injuries. I swear that pony nearly dies in every ambush or siege we've had, but keeps coming back for more, not sure if that makes him lucky or unlucky but it's certainly something.))

I continue to bawl, inconsolable.  Eventually, ponies arrive to return me to the hospital to let me rest my wounds.

Heiro walks in after Khenal is taken out. Noticing Friesden he goes to talk to her

"Hey You're Friesden right? Whats wrong?"

[Dsarker]

"Khenal...he doesn't love me, I guess."

"Khenal... that's the pony who was just taken out right? what happened to him? He seemed pretty messed up."
