Said it on the IRC but I'll say it again here. Awesome transcription Telgin.

((Aww, thanks. :) And even though we're not quite done with the 40K stuff, I don't want to forget to post Falcata's thoughts on this, so I'll do so now.  We'll get here eventually.))

Falcata's Diary - 4th Limestone, 99

The tension filling the fort was finally broken today when the zebra army besieging us finally moved to attack.  Watching the smoke from their siege camps for weeks was beginning to work on everypony's nerves, and I could tell that everypony in the guard at least were glad that something was happening.  I'm not so eager... even though I probably don't have long left in this world, I'm not anxious for it to end just yet.  Or worse, somepony else die because of my failure.

6th Limestone, 99

We might have been tense watching the campfires in the distance, but I'd have preferred it stay that way instead of anypony losing their life.  In the end, the battle was decisively in our favor, but Efim was killed.  Osal is in bad shape, but should recover from what I hear.

The actual battle is a bit hazy in my memory, and I'm just glad that I didn't participate in much of it.  I do remember a darkbolt daring to fly over the fortress walls, where he paid for his audacity with his life.  I had the honor of being the first to engage him, and I suppose I should be grateful that my time practicing has paid off some.  I was able to hold him off and actually got a few solid hits in with my hammer before somepony else with a spear finished him.  I don't think it was the new guy, Heiro, but I did see him fighting reasonably well for his experience.

By that point though, I was getting extremely nauseated, so I had to back down before the killing blow.  I don't know what Captain Isos thinks of it... she didn't say anything.  I just wanted to sit down and let everything settle, but that's when she gave the order to charge out to assist the militia.  I managed to keep my lunch down as we headed outside, and I'm extremely glad to say that Starkey showed up to finish off and route the last of the zebras.

After the battle was over, and the smell of blood was everywhere, I couldn't hold it in any longer.  I vomited next to the corpse of one of the zebras, who had suffered a particularly nasty and fatal wound to his head.  I guess everypony thought I was grossed out by it or something.  I heard a few snickers from one of the militia squads and something along the lines of "the guards have no nerve."  If it didn't feel like my stomach was in a furnace, I might have said something, but I just moped back inside the fortress.

At least it wasn't Captain Starkey or Lieutenant Otik laughing at me, but I know they both saw it happen.  And I hope Captain Isos doesn't get too put off by me embarassing the guard like that.  I haven't told anypony what's wrong with me, and I don't think they know yet.  There was a lot of blood in the vomit, but there was so much everywhere else I doubt they noticed.  If they even cared to look at it in the first place, of course, which I doubt.  If Captain Isos found out how sick I was, she'd probably relieve me of duty...

7th Limestone, 99

After another shot of medicine from Dr. Bubbles, my stomach finally settled again.  It's taking more and more to keep the pain manageable and let me eat anything.  Last night it was so bad I couldn't even drink water.  I don't need a doctor to tell me what that means.  I almost feel selfish wasting the medicine knowing that I'm doomed, but pain and fear of mortality are strong emotions that I haven't conquered yet.

Kris was so happy to see that I was alright after the siege, and I was likewise happy to see she wasn't hurt.  After her expedition into the woods with Lilac, she's been pretty terrified to even set foot out the door, which is fine by me.  When I'm gone... when I'm not here to protect her any more... (the diary entry ends abruptly)

((Whether she lives or dies, Falcata is convinced her end is nigh.  We'll see how it plays out...))

Edit: Fixed some menacing spikes of typos.

((Falcata is quickly becoming my favorite pony in this fort. I don't know weather I want her to live or die from this, as both have great story potential, but I can't wait to find out.))

((I know, I'm having the same conundrum.  I strongly suspect she's going to live.  I experimented with a fort of mine where a pony had a rotten pancreas from a similar incident, and after a full year she was completely unharmed otherwise.  Her pancreas only had minor rot, as opposed to advanced rot like Falcata, but I suspect it'll end the same: nothing.  Supposedly she could get an infection that would kill her, but I doubt it.

I suppose you could kill her like you did the other ponies if we wanted her to die.  We could put it up to a vote, hehe.  I just can't decide what I want... I've got scenes planned out for both outcomes.  One will give you d'awwabetes, the other... not so much.

And I must say, I never expected to actually participate much in this fort, much less get a decent story out of it.  I've really come to like my little unicorn.  Why is it I want terrible things to happen to her?  :P))

((And Khenal for that matter.  :D

By the way, there's a few things that I've been wondering:

1: For RP purposes, does the fort run on a socialist or capitalist economy?  I've been trying to think up a decent reason for Falcata to not resign and spend her last months with her daughter, and I figured if they need the money that was a pretty powerful motivator.  If food was rationed out for free, that's not such a good excuse anymore.

2: Does anypony know what crimes immigrants committed, or is it one of those things that it's assumed nopony will ask if you don't?  I'm wondering if somepony like Charity or Isos would know why Falcata had been sent to Glitterglen.))

1. Has been inconsistent, and I don't know. Perhaps a vote should be held. I think it tends toward a capitalistic bend though as there has been talk of bits, and buying of private items from the caravans etc. It's defiantly a mixed economy of some kind.

2. No, ponies just show up, some were banished, some are ordinary immigrants, but no one is given any particular information regarding the immigrants. This is mostly to allow someone to keep it a secret from everypony until plot demands it be revealed, but the in game explanation would be that the Princess, at least at the beginning, didn't give a rat's ass about what happened out here.

((Okay, cool.  I vote for capitalist, for the reason I just mentioned then.  Falcata's reason for getting banished to Glitterglen isn't really spectacular or anything, and it's not worth a plot derail to bring it up, but it would give her a little more character development before she died and show that everypony makes mistakes.  If she dies.

I'm seriously contemplating leaving her fate up to a vote actually, and you could kill her off if it came to that.

Actually, what are the attrition rates like in the guard?  She might get killed anyway and it might not matter.))

Socialist.

Anyway, tomorrow the 40k arc ends. I've got an way for the interrogation to be done and for all the heretics to be caught. It's going to mean that at least one more pony in the military is a heretic.

Aww, Dsarker, don't do anything to Friesden, she's my favorite psychotic / demon possessed / sometimes catatonic, pony.
Nah but seriously it's your character, although if anything really bad happens I'll be a saad Jaxtal.

Also voting capitalist, and for Falcata to live.  I'm a huge sucker for a happy ending.
