[The Master]

There is no reply, instead, the ground falls apart. Khenal tries to fly, but his wings are gone. Khenal falls into oblivion. He "wakes up" in a dark room, bound up in rope.

[Khenal]

'Lilac, can you hear me?  It's Khenal!  This is your mind, you are in control, not him!'

[The Master]

Khenal hears familiar whimpering next to him, but it's too dark to see.'

[Khenal]

'Lilac?  Are you alright?'

[The Master]

'It's so c-c-cold...'

[Khenal]

'Dear little one, it will be alright.  You are in charge here, nopony can harm you if you don't allow them to.  May I untie myself?'

[The Master]

'I...' Lilac's stops mid-sentence. Khenal hears the first voice again.
'Hey, it's not that easy pal! See, here's the deal. I killed ya first friend, now i'm going to kill this one as well. Dig?' says the sinister voice.

[Khenal]

'You have no power.  This is Lilac's mind, not yours.'

I turn my head to address Lilac gently.

'May I untie myself, Lilac?  Remember, this is your mind.  He has no power but simple bluster if you don't give it to him.'

[The Master]

'Khenal, i'm in control. Pal, if I wanted you to be in charge of this...pony...then I'd of let ya know, dig?'

Khenal feels a slap go across his face.

[Khenal]

I give him a humorless smile.

'You always did have a gift with lies.  You control nothing, Lilac just needs to remember that.'

[The Master]

'Yeah, sure, "I control nothing" THAT'S WHAT YA BUCKING TOLD ME WHEN YA PUT ME DOWN!'

[Khenal]

'More bluster.'

I again turn to Lilac and gently address her.

'May I untie myself, Dear Little One?'

[The Master]

'ah don' have any say in it!' exclaims Lilac.

[Khenal]

'You have all the say in it, Lilac.  This is your mind.  If I do anything without your permission, I could hurt you.  I promised I wouldn't.  So, may I untie myself?'

[The Master]

'ah suppose...but only if you make that meanie go away!'
