Kris' mouth hangs agape as she fights for words.  She couldn't think of anything to say or do, so she settles for standing up and holding Lilac's hoof again.  Her mom said a lot of good things about Khenal... he would think of something to do...

The sound of the word daemon brought about a sharp intake of air in Kris.  She looks over and finds that Lilac has begun to calm down, at least.  She didn't understand any of this any more, but what little she knew of daemons scared her.  Was... Lilac possessed too?

Falcata watches in awe as Khenal works.  She knew he was perhaps the most accomplished magician in Glitterglen, particularly in mental magics, but it was something she had never had occasion to witness while he was captain of the guard.

Truly if anypony could help Lilac, it was him.

A bright flash lights up the forest, and Khenal notices Lilac's family's corpses, lying in a pile right in front of him. He then hears a sinister voice.
