Lilac is too busy hitting her head into the non-existent floor to notice Kris's actions.

She stares in confusion for a moment.  At least she solved one problem, and Lilac wasn't crying her eyes out right now.  She had a feeling that this was a lot worse than it looked though... where did Miss Otik say she was going?  Could she take Lilac to her?

She pushed the thought aside.  Keeping her in the air like this was getting very hard... how did unicorns lift big things?  Then a thought hits her: her mom is a unicorn, maybe she knew a spell that could help!

Kris struggles to keep Lilac aloft as she bolts to her mother and urgently tries to rouse her.

Otik reaches the barracks, and enters to find only Starkey and Vail.

"Stars? Where did mister Khenal go? I need t'see 'im."

"He's just in Lilac's bedroom. What happened, did you find her?"

"Aye... but somethin's wrong. Tha's why I came lookin' for 'im."

Khenal came out of the room at that point, his horn glowing.

"I think I can find her now!"

Falcata blinks the sleep from her eyes.  What happened?  She just closed her eyes for a second...

She was supposed to be watching Lilac!  She immediately props herself up in bed and sees that Lilac is missing from her own bed.  It only takes a second for her to see Lilac floating next to Kris a few steps away, idly bashing her head into nothingness.

Kris begins to tear up.
"Mom, help!  I-I don't know what to do!"

Neither did she.  "G-give her to me!"  She scoops Lilac up with her own magic as Kris' magic fails.  "Lilac?  What's wrong?"

"Sorry lad, she's already been found."

"Who... oh! Aye, she's in th' hospital. Would ye come with me, mister Khenal? There's somethin' wrong with 'er, an' yer th' only one I know who c'n help 'er.."

"I'M D-D-DEAD..." Sobs Lilac, repeating herself.

Falcata sits up in bed with some effort.  She levitates Lilac closer and hugs her like Otik did, stroking her mane gently.  "It's okay, honey," she says softly.

Lilac cries into Falcata's mane, soaking it rather quickly.

"Alright, jus'... come with me."

Otik turns to leave, and Starkey falls in behind her.

Falcata continues to embrace her gently.  Her own troubles seem to pale in insignificance for a moment.  The child had lost her entire family in just a few days, and was now convinced she had joined them in some sick parody of undeath.

"It's okay..." she repeats softly.

Kris sniffles quietly to herself and moves to the other side of the bed, out of sight.  She felt terrible about what was happening... she didn't even want to look.
