"Everypony reads The Book of Dawn and Dusk, and there's a few personal statuettes and votives there, but what with the nature of our, er, 'work', it seemed appropriate."

((I figure that besides the night, Luna's domain also includes death. So as a soldier who kills other ponies on a regular basis, and may very well end up dying themselves, it would be natural to pray to her for forgiveness and protection. Or failing that, to ensure that they'll be admitted into the afterlife.))

"Very well. Let us take her there."

Of course, by us, she meant me. I lugged the mare over there. It was very unnerving, and I wished that Schmutz was there. Eventually, I could put her down and wipe the marks she had made on me.

"Daemon!" called the Inquisitor. "In the name of the God Princess Celestia the Everpure and in the name of Luna the Thousandfold Cursed, I command you to come out!"

"Otik, can I see if Falcata is alright? I would've asked her before when I was there...but..." Lilac's voice trails off.

Otik is more than a little bit wary of letting Lilac go back there. She wants to believe the filly won't try anything, but a part ofher still fears for her safety.

"I dunno, hun. Starkey acted like somethin' real important was happenin' there, an' he didnae want us around, in case-"

She hears voices in the barracks outside. She could pick out Starkey, Istlig, and that new stallion from yesterday morning.

The word 'daemon' was mentioned.

"...On second thought, why dun we go see 'er now? I think Starkey is done in there, an' lit'l Kris looked pretty upset. Maybe you two could talk?"

Falcata continues to lie in bed, having not moved at all now that she found a tolerable position to rest in.  She takes shallow breaths, trying to avoid the worst of the pain in her ribs.  Kris is still curled up tightly next to the bed, occasionally wiping her eyes or nose between sniffles.

Lilac and Otik arrive at the hospital. When Lilac sees Kris, she dashes towards her, stopping on a dime upon reaching her.
"HI! I'M LILAC!" Says Lilac excitedly.

Kris recoils from the sudden interruption.  She sniffles again, wipes her nose and says, "Uh, h-hello."  She pauses awkwardly.  "I'm Kris."

"L-listen...I heard what's really wrong with your mom..." Whispers Lilac, Leaning close to Kris's ear.

((Technically Dr. Bubbles hadn't diagnosed her with terminal gut rot yet, but I can forgive that for a bit of drama, heh))

Her expression grows grim.  "Wh-what?  She just broke her leg, right?"

Her expression remains grim.  "It... starts rotting?"

Falcata moans and turns slightly to bring the two into view.  "What are you two talking about?" she says with difficulty.
