Lilac is horribly depressed, and continues to cry all the way to the barracks.
"PUT ME DOWN!"

"Y-yes, sir.  Th-thank you."  She rests her head on the bed, shuts her eyes, and tries unsuccessfully to suppress another series of moans.

[Impending Doom]

'Did you forget about the 'alive' part? I want to save Friesden, not just make a new one to replace her!'

An idea strikes him.

'Wait... You know the construct Khenal used to seal his memories away? The one you destroyed? If we could use something like that to make her forget what happened while she was under the daemon's influence, would that help?'

Otik carries Lilac into her own office, setting her gently on her bed and locking the door behind them.

[The Master]

"LET ME OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUT!!" Shrieks Lilac at the door, bashing into it with all her might.

[Dsarker]

I destroyed no construct of Khenal's. He was altering her mind? I KNEW IT.

[Impending Doom]

'No no no, I mean the one in his own head! The one for his memories about that daemonhost-rehab-hospital place? Dammit, I'll need to re-read that book of his...'

Her voice quavers. She has tears in her own eyes now.

[The Master]

"RAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!" Lilac tries to bash her head into the door until she gets knocked out from hitting the door so hard.

'Alright, look: Khenal knows a spell that allows him to selectively block out part of a pony's memory. If we use that to make Friesden forget about her time with the daemon, will it help her get better?'

Otik takes the dazed filly into her hooves, sitting on the bed. She clutches her to her chest, gently stroking her mane.

Minutes later, Lilac wakes back up, mumbling something incoherently.

[Impending Doom]

"Shh... hush now..."

She rocks Lilac gently.

[The Master]

"Why don't you just smother me and get it over with...?" mutters Lilac under her breath.

[Impending Doom]

"B'cause I don' want ye to d-die." she sobs.

[The Master]

Lilac just growls, kicking at the sobbing Otik.
