I looked at the carpet, and saw a hoof that I hadn't noticed before. I lifted up the carpet, hope and fear in equal amounts warring within me.

I saw the two bodies underneath the carpet, and I lay it down again.

"They're there. Don't bother looking. We'll need four coffins now."

I looked up to the guards. "Not a word of this to anyone outside of this room. Not a word. This does not leave this room."

It was then that I looked at the knife. A word had been written on it. "Loyalty", it read. I held it out to the captain. "Why would he have loyalty on his knife?"

Starkey unsheathes his axe, bringing the blade up to compare. The word 'Honesty' is etched across the blade. Sure enough, the script matches perfectly.
