The cut wasn't deep, thank the Princesses. Knives are hard to throw well when they aren't balanced correctly. But it still annoyed me. Assaulting a Commissar is bad enough. But to assault me was, quite naturally, far more annoying.

When Starkey (as I learned later was his name) gave the order, I still didn't fire. Damn this pony, it was not going to get off that easily. When he closed, I went with him.

The pony is dead as can be. There's no evidence to suggest he died from anything other than a spontaneous heart attack.

He trails off.

"The foals! Where are they, are they safe?"

His question is answered by Lilac's sobs in the next room. He rushes in to find her lying next to her slain mother.

"Oh... sweetheart, come here..."
