Captain Isos glares at Friesden for her withdrawn question, knowing it doesn't need to be answered to sew doubt about Isos' motivation.

"None, for now."

[Dsarker]

"Very well. I call Khenal, former captain of the guard, to the stand."

[Khenal]

I stand and step forward, ready to testify.

[The Master]

((I'll take over Isos for now))

[Dsarker]

"Khenal, you were made sheriff when the death of Èfim was discovered, were you not?"

[Telgin]

(Hmm, was Falcata part of the guard when the beatings occurred?  She probably knew of it either way I guess)

Friesden's comment on the beatings struck a nerve, and it took most of Falcata's will to remove the scowl that formed on her face.  What did Friesden intend by that remark?

The train of thought was cut off as Khenal was called forward to testify.  This was the moment she was really waiting for.  What would her former captain have to say for all of this?

[Khenal]

"I was."

[Dsarker]

"Can you take us through the wounds on Èfim's body? Only in as much detail as is needed. Were there any abnormalities found in the body?"

[Khenal]

"Yes.  The ribs and spine showed multiple signs of spear-strike, and the wings had been carefully removed post mortem.  There was also an abnormality of the skull that I didn't think much of at the time: a small hole in the forehead.  I didn't include it in the reports or cause of death, as the hole appeared to be a very old wound.  Additionally, the wound appeared to have been carefully made, not the work of a spear trap."

[The Master]

((Possibly the knife in the chest...Oh my gosh...THE KNIFE JAMMED IN THE CHEST! EVIDENCE PEOPLE!))

[Dsarker]

"Tell me, do you know if it is easy to carve a skull like that? Could it possibly have decayed before being exhumed?"

[The Master]

"HOLD IT! Friesden, how would you know how easy it would be, unless you've done it before?!"

[Dsarker]

"Because he is a soldier. It tends to happen that some soldiers hit enemy ponies in the head, in which case you would be able to estimate how difficult carving it would be."

[Khenal]

"If I hadn't seen the wound myself, I'd have called it impossible.  A simple blow to the head makes a totally different wound than what I saw.  It took somepony who knew what they were doing, and likely some very precise magic as well.  And no, it wouldn't have decayed like that.  A skull is pretty sturdy, holes don't just appear in them.
