"Well... I uh, skimmed it. But I have read all Khenal's old reports on the case including where he talks about the book." stammers out the guard captain.

Ingest above!  The other guards found Friesden's journal, and I couldn't believe what it contained!  The first entries seemed almost manic, exactly what I would expect from a pony who could murder.  But, around the middle, the real Dr. Friesden started poking through.  Towards the end, it seemed like two ponies were trying to write in the same space, with sentences mashed together and flowing into each other.

"Then go, take two hours and read the diary thoroughly." grumbles Charity, "And Friesden I am aware that you will be claiming temporary insanity, and the diary which I read certainly works as evidence for the insane part. What we still need to see proved, is the temporary part.

Edit: "The meeting is dismissed and the trial will begin again in two hours."

Missed the start by a bit, I'm afraid.

Sometimes justice still gets served, Falcata thinks to herself as she watches Isos lead Friesden into the room.

Already she felt butterflies in her stomach, and the trial hadn't even begun.  She'd sat through more trials than she ever cared to remember, none of them happy occasions.  At least this time she didn't have a personal stake in the matter.

She blew out a breath to relieve some of her pent up tension and watched the ponies around her.  She wanted to see Friesden brought to justice, but she also had a job to do.  There was a small chance somepony might lose their cool and do something they might regret, and it was her job to see to it that nopony got hurt.  Even Friesden.

That would have to come later when she was convicted for being the murderer she was.

Edit: Does anypony else want to take over Isos for this. I'd like it to be someone who's been around awhile, sorry compound. I can do it if no one else will step up, but I'd rather let someone else do it.

Cornbread stretched her back as she went back to her seat in the courtroom, after sleeping the whole time for two hours listening to the chattering around the room. She wonders how she'd been talked into joining this court. Already, three hours had passed, and not one single exciting thing which she'd been craving for had happened.

Also, compound, like I ALREADY SAID, I'm going to let the open forum part of the trial run for at least one full day real time so more players have an opportunity to post regardless of time zones and schedules. So if you need to leave tonight, you should be able to post your part tomorrow.
