"The spell I used on you was one I had used on myself, several years ago, to try to fix a mistake I made.  It blocks conscious recollection of memories related to whatever subject it's supposed to seal.  In your case, your past.  However, it isn't fool-proof."

I reach out to embrace Friesden, knowing this next part will be hard for me to tell her, and likely harder for her to hear.

"You still have all the knowledge you gained, good and ill, but don't know how to access it.  In times of danger, however, the subconscious tends to react.  You...went berserk on the diomedians, then passed out mid-charge at...at Captain Otik and Carrot."

My omission hangs obvious as I pause.

"I brought you down to the cells, just in case you were going to go berserk when you awoke.  I was pretty sure you'd be fine, but I had to be sure."

Tears start flowing as I continue.

"I'm sorry, Friesden!  I promised to seal your memories like you asked, but I'm not strong enough!  I don't know how long the construct will last, but you'll start remembering your past eventually.  It may be in pieces or all at once, but they'll return.  I'm sorry!"

[Dsarker]

Friesden just stands stock still, stunned.


"Khenal I must say again that you are a loud thinker. Where is Friesden, that your thoughts are shouting so?"

[Khenal]

I continue weeping and apologizing, hoping Friesden can forgive my failing her.

"I... I don't understand."


((How long till you'll be back?))

[Khenal]

"Y-You've had a hard life, a-and had realized what you had done.  Y-You didn't want to remember, and asked that I remove the memories and the pain they brought.  I-I'm so s-sorry!"
