Presumably she would have been somewhere practicing with her hammer to try and suck less at it.  I need to go back and find the images showing the layout of the fort, no idea if the barracks are near the jail or not.

Barracks, jail and Captain's office and quarters are all on the same floor and very close.  In fact, the Captain's quarters are apparently just past the office.

If anypony wants/needs to interact with Khenal, I'll be on for another hour-and-a-half to two hours.  Afterwords, I'll be gone for a while for gaming with friends

As dawn breaks on the fortress, Khenal wakes, and sees Friesden at the foot of his bed, an anxious look upon her face.

[Khenal]

I lean over to nuzzle her, still feeling weak.

"Are you alright, my love?"

[Dsarker]

Her anxiety lightens a bit, and lets the tiredness shine through. "I am now, my love. What happened?"

[Khenal]

I smile and give a small chuckle.

"A lot.  What is the last thing you remember?"

[Dsarker]

"We...We had just found Carrot, and a group of Diomedians were blocking our path...then I was in one of the cells."

[Khenal]

"Do you remember what I told you when I sealed your memories of your past?  That I could only seal the conscious memories, but couldn't seal your subconscious?"
