The ethereal chains slow for a moment as I establish a link with Carrot's mind, ready for the daemon to try to strike.

Predicting from last time that Khenal would try to chain him, the daemon quickly exits Psycho and the red mist whizzes down the hallway that Starkey is coming from.

"Damn it, have I met Starkey?  I don't think so, this is bad."

My shout startles several nearby ponies, seeing them I get an idea.
"You!  Go find Starkey!  You need to tell him Carrot's eyes are glowing.  Apparently he'll know what that means!"
The two ponies mill around for a few seconds wondering what to do.
"I SAID NOW!"
As they both run off I turn around.
Where are we going?!
"We're going back.  If we don't we might not have a chance like this to keep the daemon from messing with us again!"
Resolutely squashing Negs' protests I gallop back to the room.

As the chains shatter, I reshape the backlash into a new spell, siphoning off the magic of the linking spell I was preparing as well.  With a flash, I teleport a short distance and land in the path the mist is taking.

"Your fight is here, daemon!"

There is now a large green alicorn directly in Starkey's path. he does not notice this in time, and slams into him.

The daemon takes what would've been weeks to him, but seconds in the real world, to finally get through the maze and reach Keeper.
