Otik quickly seals her book, setting it aside.

"Oh, hullo Cap'n. Aye, he's in there, but... I dunnae think he wants to talk to anypony. Are you... here to help 'im?

"Help him?  Is he in trouble?"

"He... well... after the little standoff with th' countess, I think somethin'... broke inside 'im. He ordered th' whole militia back to th' barracks, and when they were all gone, he just... broke down, bawlin' like a little foal. Since then he jus'... hasn't been th' same. He takes 'is meals in 'is office, an' he hardly says a word t' anypony that en't an order. I know somethin's really wrong with 'im, I just dunnae know what."

[Khenal]

"Then yes, I'm here to help him.  May I go in?"

[Impending Doom]

"Aye, go ahead. He don' even lock 'is door anymore lately."

[Khenal]

I open the door and peek inside.

"Starkey, hello?  I'd like to talk to you if you have some time."

[Impending Doom]

Starkey is sitting at his desk, reading. At the sound of the door, he starts.

"Who is - oh... hello Khenal."

He gives Khenal a half-hearted smile.

"I... have plenty of time. What is it?"

[The Master]

While the two were talking, Psycho had been listening in. He pops up behind Khenal and asks
"What's this about Starkey losing it?" Scaring the daylights out of Khenal.

[Khenal]

"Gah!  Carrot, don't do that!"

I give Carrot an annoyed look, before relaxing and holding the door for him with my magic as I walk closer to Starkey.

"How are you doing, Starkey?"

[Impending Doom]

"Oh.. alright, I suppose. How are you doing?"

[The Master]

I give Starkey a crisp salute.
"Feeling better, sir?"

[Khenal]

"I'm... I've been worse.  I hear you've been pretty reclusive ever since, uh, the incident?  Anything you'd like to talk about?"

[Impending Doom]

"No, not particularly."

Another smile, this one warmer and far more sincere.

"But I get the impression you won't be taking 'no' for an answer. Have a seat."

There is one chair by the desk. Starkey offers it to Khenal, taking a seat on the bed.
