>Steve: Finish with the traps.

[2,7+16] = 25

You spend more time disassembling and jamming a variety of instruments of death and dismemberment, mostly the latter. However, as dangerous as the traps are, it seems that once you begin to look for them, their triggers are obvious. Though, that may be because of your training they stand out so well.

Soon, the way to the lit room beyond is clear.

>CT: Introduce self to locals, and see if you can get them to tell you what the deal with these factories is.

You don't usually have to deal with a chumming check unless they either don't want to tell you what you're asking about, or don't like you.

You greet the lizards, and they turn, responding excitedly. They say that the factories have always been here, but only recently have they begun taking in the very trees they produce. They find it perplexing, and also alarming. Their food apparently grows on the trees that are being systematically uprooted, taken into the factories which spit out different trees at the other end. They were considering going in, even though they've been told not to.

"Why are you all so excited?"

One of them claims they were trying to psych themselves up. The three agree it hasn't been working very well.

>Mikheal: If your just going to give me a long squence of railroadings, you may as well just cut to the chase and get me to the king part already.

Well, if you're feeling impatient, fine. Your escort scurries you through the hall and into what is clearly the audience chamber. There are two regal, green decorated thrones, and the right hand seat is occupied by a red bird wearing a golden crown. Standing beside him is the leader of the group who beat you up and locked you up. He scowls heavily at you.

The king waves the squad surrounding you away, and they step to either side, giving you plenty of space. Then, he speaks. "Remove his helmet. I would speak to him beak to beak, as it were."

The captain (Actually, it occurs to you that you don't know his rank, but he seems of a captainy persuasion) leans over to the King. "My Liege, I must advise against this. The helmet is magic and in possession of it's own intelligence. If removed for a time, it will destroy itself and anything nearby in a cataclysmic explosion."

The King looks perturbed, and turns to face the other bird. "Is this so? And how did you come to learn this? Did he tell you?"

"No my liege." The bird replies, shaking his feathered head. "But one of my personal squad meant to take the helmet as a trophy, and when he wore it, it told him of these dire consequences. We cannot be sure how long it would take to explode, and I cannot bear the thought of your majesties death, especially a death so easily preventable."

The King nods his head. "Very well, he may leave it on." The King re-directs his attention to you. "I do wish we could have met in more agreeable circumstances, young traveler. But, perhaps we can have something resembling courtesy in any case. What is your name?"

>The Messhall! Where I can charm the crew with my PERSONALITY.

And so, the Messiah heads for the Messhall.

You enter the messhall, where the crew meets you with... Well, a sort of nervous deference. This may make getting friends off to a chilly start. At any rate, there isn't a meal being served right now, so the only sailors here are either off-duty, cleaning, or preparing for the next meal. What will you do?

Oh, that reminds me, your skills weren't done quite right. You need to add your level bonus to each of them.

The salamanders are standing in front of a large sliding door, but it's either stuck or locked. You could try going in through the opening the arm came out of, but there is no way up there. It might be possible to force the sliding door though.

RL: INTO THE LIGHT

The group makes their way into the next room, and after their eyes adjust, it is quickly identified as the room they were in earlier, only inverted. After a moment, the group discovers another difference: Instead of a mural on the wall, there is a spiral ramp, winding up to the ceiling.

"IS IT JUST ME, OR IS IT BRIGHTER IN HERE THAN IN THE OTHER ROOM?"

"Yeah. Lots brighter. There's probably something up. Watch yourselves."

RL: Try to climb the ramp?

"Yeah. Lots brighter. There's probably something up. Watch yourselves."

RL: Try to climb the ramp?

"I GUESS IT'S BECAUSE THE LIGHT ISN'T SO HIGH UP THIS TIME."

Danielle starts making her way up the ramp. It's a fairly shallow incline, following around the wall about 8 times before spiraling all the way to the top. As you take stock of everything this ramp entails, you notice something sticking out of the ceiling. It looks like another slab.

Are you going all the way up?
