You move through the gate, emerging in a forest of dead trees. The dirt beneath your feet is baked and dry, and you can smell the scent of rotting flesh in the air. Your smartphone beeps, alerting you that you're being pestered.

Lighter in hand, Steve moves into the camp, keeping out of sight of the various patrols and passersby.

Steve proceeds to the rough center of the camp without being seen. There are enemies on all sides. What do you do?

You stand around for a bit before you hear a noise overhead, similar to a plane, but smaller. A figure descends, strapped into a faded rocketpack.

"YO."

He looks like Alex, but he is significantly older. You'd guess a few years. Maybe a relative? As you ponder this, he unstraps an armlet and tosses it to you. It's identical to your time control armlet!

"THIS IS RIGHTFULLY YOURS. DON'T KNOW IF YOU CAN USE TWO AT A TIME, BUT I THINK I'M DONE WITH IT IN ANY CASE."

You slap the other armlet onto your left arm. It seems to be designed in such a way that you can use it on either arm. How do you plan to test using both?

The things that are most certainly flammable is the canvas of the tents themselves... Of course, the yellow goop in the barrels may be flammable, but you can't know for certain until you try. Searching for an appropriate thing to light takes time though; Make another stealth check.

Can you define better how one works so I can come up with a good test?

The Armlet consists of a small section you wear on the upper arm and the back of the hand, connected to a control pad that rests on the palm.

The device is capable of pushing you forward or backward along the timestream. As you ponder all of this, your native Armlet begins blinking with a deep red light on the back of your hand. After a few blinks, the new-to-you Armlet responds in kind for three beeps in unison with the original. The pair then abruptly stops.
