Artifact silver mail shirt
« on: September 13, 2011, 03:53:44 am »

My master armorsmith just made this little beauty... very simple, just a masterful silver mail shirt decorated with wood (weird).

I'm wondering if I should let my military equip it, it being silver and all. Also, would they pick it up spontaneously or do I have to assign it?

Would it be better than a good steel mail shirt?

Silver is terrible armor, artifact or not.  It's heavy and very soft.  Permanent stockpile, create a "head priest" squad to wear it and other ceremonial pieces, or throw it outside, catch it on fire, and let thieves burn themselves trying to steal it.

I hope it wasn't a possession, because a legendary armorsmith is worth more than that artifact.

Sounds like someone has earned themselves a nice warm bath, for providing such a fabulous display item at the cost of precious silver.

Nah, I have a crapload of silver and gold, but a big lack of armorsmiths, so he'll have to make do with fresh water baths... for now :)

Then again 90% of my artifacts have been possessions and some very stupid ones at that... like a toy hammer made of gems O_o

About as good as any other gem mood.  Useless things, for sure.  Good for trading, but they don't feed you, or keep goblins away, or protect you from syndromes.

Wonder if it can be weaponized...

Has anybody devised a toy cannon?

A tantruming dwarf would be your only means of flight.  Or a beast with a [GRASP] may manage to pick it up and bludgeon with it...  Like the giants who pick up socks.

I'm tempted of creating an adventurer just for the porpoise of grabbing that hammer and throwing it to other people :)

Sounds like a fair attempt once the fort has run its life.  And you can equip that shirt under your real armor (assuming you're a dwarf adventurer) or just throw it at someone as well.

As long as you're throwing things, you should mass-produce silver warhammers, and then have an adventurer take them all and become Thor, Thrower of Hammers!

You can't trade artifacts as I recall. A gem bed is a delightful gem mood, as are other gem furnitures. Sadly, most gem moods make a perfect gem instead which is a bauble.

Congrats, Psieye. This is the first time I've seen a derailed thread get put back on the rails.

Not very useful but badass nonetheless. What's the value? Bummer about it being a possession tho'.

Can you draft a noble and gave them wear it for happy thoughts? I ask this honestly - I don't know if wearing nice armor give happy thoughts.
