Enemies attack through floor

This has probably been covered, but I can't find where so I figure I'll bring it up.  Murdering the mayor and then seeing how long you can hold the second floor of the tavern against the waves of peasants is much harder when you're getting attacked through the floorboards.  Especially since it somehow pulled me through the floor and the fall hurt me. So yeah.

Were you on the edge? Because people can attack up at cliffs and ledges the level above them.
