The most idiotic, retarded acts you have witnessed.
« on: September 11, 2011, 07:27:27 am »

A thread for all those times you looked at someone and though, "Why are they allowed in public?"

Maybe you saw someone snorting sherbet, playing with a lighter on a bus or even just walking around with their arms out screaming "WHERE'S MY CUSTARD?"

I've seen all of those happen. What are your experiences with these?

Well, there was this fat Indian guy who was sitting on the floor of the bus all the way in the back and cutting his toenails, which resulted in them ending up all over the place.
Does that count as weird?

...
Maybe you saw someone snorting sherbet ...
That reminds me of a joke I came up with when my car was being searched by the police (this was for sitting outside a gas station late at night, when nobody was around, I know I didn't have to let them search me, but I figured I'd get less trouble that way).
What if, I took a bottle of aspirin. Ground it up, stuck it in a plastic ziplock bag, then placed it under the seat of my car.
Then when my car gets searched and I get the obligatory question, "What is this?" I say, "It's powdered aspirin, for sinus headaches!"
...I wouldn't actually do that. Those police can be scary.

Ermmm, yeah. Weirdest thing... Does a living statue count? Because that's honestly about it for me.

Another weird thing I saw in a shop a few days ago: Marijuana lollipops.
It was in Amsterdam, so it wasn't that weird, but still. I haven't seen any of those before.

There are lollipops with tequila and rum in America. There are also ones with scorpions, spiders, and beetles in them. Real ones, to boot.

I doubt it actually contained any of the good stuff, considering it didn't smell like weed and I'm pretty sure only coffeeshops are allowed to sell actual weed.

Seeing the title I couldn't think of anything to post but seeing this in the OP reminds me of actually seeing people do this. They were not close friends but kids on the same street. Frequent nose bleeds caused them to stop.

I was showing a customer our awful rhododendrons, which were awful because they were infested with aphids and white flies.  I explained they only needed one application of a spray and they'd be good as new.  He politely said no, then started scratching his arms, said he had enough bugs, then said he could already feel the bugs jumping on to him o_O

Having no idea what a sherbet is, I googled it.

How the sweet mother of your mother do you snort icecream?
I've seen people snort (and smoke)  ammonium chloride (sal ammoniac) but at least that fits in your nose.
Am I missing something here?

Nevermind, wikipedia seems to be more reliable than google images to find out what something means (:P) and it's just powder..

Idiotic and retarded are the norm here, so finding the ones that are the most so is difficult.

Tailgating. In general, but especially on interstate and other high speed limit roads. Willingly driving less than a dozen feet from another vehicle while going >=70 mph is what I'd call suicidally stupid.

Definitely the most violently idiotic thing I see on a regular basis.

They actually sell that down here in the South. They're called Goody's Powders. Apparently they eat away at your sinuses AND your stomach lining. Good stuff!

I think, under those circumstances, you'd get arrested though. Either for pranking the cops or for having fake drugs, which is illegal I think. Or for having real drugs. Because really, who has the time to do chemical analyses anymore?

Almost as fun as taking an unlabelled baggie of vitamins through airport security.

On that note, at my job, while we were getting ready to launch the afternoon cruise, we noticed a guy swimming across the river. He made it about 3/4 of the way to the Indiana bank, and then apparently decided he couldn't make it and turned around to try to swim to one of the navigation aids (read: barrels attachd to the riverbed) in the middle of the river. We had called Metro Fire & Rescue a while ago and they had boats out there to get him out.

For reference, this is the stretch of the Ohio I'm talking about:

You can see the watchtower of our wharfboat in the lower right (the white bit). For scale reference, the lower bridges are 4 lanes wide. The deeper parts of the river (mainly the shipping channel that is dredged fairly often) can be as deep as 40-50ft, IIRC, and there are nasty currents. Children fall in and drown fairly often, and jumpers on the bridges and wharf tend to die if there isn't anyone in the water at the time. Not to mention that it is a major shipping route for cargo barges that are the freshwater equivalent of freight trains (a tender can't stop 4 barges full of coal on a dime). So yeah, trying to swim it without anyone spotting you from a boat, and without any sort of flotation aid, is really fucking stupid.
