A short story about Ithra Zizhode, Desert Titan
« on: September 11, 2011, 03:12:49 am »

One day the fortress of Orsharoslan was beset upon by the ferocious desert titan Ithra Zizhode.  Ithra was an enormous six-legged lizard composed of flame, its sting was potent. Upon entering the view of the fortress Ithra carelessly wandered into a small pond and evaporated all the water, trapping it, much to the entertainment of the residents of Orsharoslan.

What happens next?

Is this a suggestion game, or are you trying to make us guess what happened in your fortress?

No it just happened and i wonder what i should do with this glorious event. I think i will build a dungeon around it and drop captured invaders into the pit. Do you have any suggestions?

Burn it!

Or, no, drown it.

Don't quote me on that.
Cacame channels aquifers into submission by staring at them. Cacame is so badass, kobolds give him their children to leave them alone. If Hidden Fun Stuff digs too far down, they hit Cacame. Cacame once took a Tantrum Spiral and impaled four enemies on it.

Wall it in to be sure, then build a retractable bridge over it - diving board of death for prisoners!

Build an arena around it, that way your workers have some distance from it, and feed the prisoners you get ( gobbos and elves, preferably ) to the thing.  Unless it can't move, due to being trapped in a pond.  If so, this might not be a good idea.

How far can i drop a goblin for it to not die? also, can i build a cage/lever setup over thin air?
Stupid dwarves are fishing next to the pond and dropping the fish they catch so that my idlers are coming out of the fort all the fraking time. how do i forbid an area to all dwarves?

You should get some cave spider web and get it on a trap.
Have the titan path over it.

Now if your dwarves drop it because its too hot you could turn off Temperature and move it to an area where you want drop it then channel water onto it from a ledge above you now have a infinite waterfall

Build a room over it with grates for a floor, then pour water onto him with pumps.

You now have a sauna.

This might have a practical use.  Dwarves get a happy thought by walking through mist, so it might be similar with steam.

Or they'll get scalded to death. One or the other.

No, scalding doesn't happen anymore.
But steam does not make them feel all warm and fuzzy inside, despite the fact that they love all things hot.

Ah, my dwarven heart beats with fierce pride for this.  I can't take it anymore!  I have to go do something profound.

Thats why you make a waterfall buy putting a ledge above it... Possibly some grates. You first throw the creature into a pit. Cover it with floor grates. Channel water to flow in. Waterfall/Steam will then make dwarfs happy. *Put behind windows*
