bridge removal causes flooding
« on: November 11, 2006, 08:06:00 pm »

a while back i posted a diagram of a channel / pond setup, with a bridge along and overlapping one edge of the channel, and removing the bridge caused flooding.

I just confirmed this in another fortress, with a bridge that wasnt even built yet.

- Build (or designate to be built) a bridge over a filled channel.

- remove that bridge, before / after / during construction.

- water floods out of the channel where the bridge was

I tried this once and nothing happened.  I'll have to try it again.  Maybe there's an additional factor.

hmm.  maybe its when the edge of the bridge is on the edge of the channel, and not fully crossing?  let me test some more.

oh dear.  i was so confident when i had it happening twice, but now i cant make it happen again.  let me see if i can dig up an old save where i can reproduce it..

oh dear^2, ive gone through 3 versions worth of saves, and i dont seem to still have the fortresses where it was happening.  and i cant seem to recreate it, like i thought i could.  gosh i suck at bug reporting.  i'll keep you posted if i manage to make it happen again.

if its helpfull in any way, i believe (use some salt, here) that in both cases it was a channel next to a pond.  and that it was a one-tile-wide bridge over the channel that ended on the channel and not on dry ground. but dont waste too much time on it.  i'll keep trying, and see if i can send you a save with it happening.
